We had a great tour of the underground mine. Even as a person who is not thrilled about tight spaces and "rides" it was a fun and worth while experience. You will travel down a mine shaft in a small "elevator" and then ride a...More

My son, 8-years-old, and I took the 10am tour of the Soudan Underground Mine during Memorial Weekend. Standing tall over the town of Soudan, the buildings of the once flourished Mine still hold strong. The half an hour before our tour began, we walked through...More

Disneyland had a mine ride, but the one in Soudan is the real thing. It starts with a ride in the original elevator down over 1/3 mile into the mine. Then travel in the electric powered mine train through the tunnels to the huge underground...More

You don't know how good you have it until you experience what these Soudan miners did for 80 years. I will never complain about my crappy desk job again! We had our almost 5 yr old and 8 yr old with us - and they...More

This was a very fun stop on our road trip. The guide was clearly extremely passionate about the history and process of the mine and local area, and it came through in his enthusiastic presentation. As others have noted, the elevator ride down into the...More

This was my first time touring the mine, always been on my list to do. Very pretty drive from Duluth. For two people we paid $24, the tour was nearly two hours. No bags or hats are allowed down in the mine, they do provide...More

We went on two tours, the mine tour and the physics tour. Call ahead to find out if they are still offering the physics tour, because the lab was shut down and being moved. The ride down the shaft is thrilling - not for those...More
