This was one of my favorite spots that we visited on the North Shore this trip! The river is beautiful, the hike down was easy. Not accessible though. Stunning rapids and fun place to pick rocks.

From the visitor center, take the short hike down to the mouth of the Baptism, where it dumps into Lake Superior. Nice spot for agate hunting, fishing, dipping your feet in the cool water, or just chilling out.

We went swimming in the river and enjoyed laying in the rocks picking out agates. It was a cool day and the water was chilly but it was very serene and relaxing.

Viewing the big and little falls, listening to it at night, taking walks along it, listening to birds, seeing deer up close.

Did not encounter many other hikers at the mouth of the river. The hike of ~ 1.5 miles to the the falls is well worth the effort but could tire you out if you are used to hiking and doing lots of stairs,
