Without a doubt one of the best waterfalls on the north shore drive. I love the hiking paths here and the campsites are great! ( which is why it is almost impossible to get a site in the summer) We are north shore veterans and have been coming up here for 30 years. Today is our 29th wedding anniversary, what... More

Gorgeous scenery and a not particularly challenging hike made this a lovely "entry level" hiking excursion for our first North Shore trip. Would highly recommend!

This is a beautiful park. The main waterfall is a short distance from Highway 61. You don't even have a park permit to access the main falls. Park right on Highway 61 and wall into the park. You will need to be willing to climb stairs and hilly ground to reach the main waterfall area. There is a bridge over... More

We parked on the side of the road and took the steps/trail down to view the falls. Still as beautiful as I remember it. The trail is well paced but can be dangerous for children/elderly. Definitely worth it to walk down there though. Wish we would've had more time to explore the rest of the park, but we were passing... More

We did the roadside stop to see the falls that runs right under Hwy 61. We walked down the stairs on the Lake Superior side. Stunning! Minimal walking and stairs make this an easy stop.

People of average hiking ability can do this short hike and see several waterfalls typical of the north shore. Path is wide and well-defined, but has an expected amount of vertical climb.

I've posted this info before for other state parks but believe it is worth repeating if it saves somebody 1,000s in engine and exhaust repairs. Minnesota has passed a law requiring biodiesel blends of at least 10%. I don't know about other diesel RVs (or cars and trucks) but those RVs built on a Mercedes Sprinters which probably includes those... More

We camped for 3 nights here and really enjoyed it. There are great sights just minutes off the highway if you just want a quick look. But you can spend more time exploring either the coast or further upriver. The facilities were good, if not spectacular, and we had no problems with our site. We were here in early September... My dad and I spent three nights camping here. Or campsite offered a small view of Lake Superior, but the numerous footpaths nearby allowed us quick access to the water. Hiking was great--there park is a closer to the Superior Hiking Trail, which we followed North one day, South the next. Highly recommend and have already booked my next camping... More

I just love this park. You can park right along Hwy 61 and then hike back along the river to view all the great waterfalls and rapids and gorges. It is just fantastic. I always try to go here if I am in the area. Highly recommended and a pretty easy hike.
