We visited on a hot, humid summer day. Bring plenty to drink! There are many different trails you can follow. We hiked the Quarry, part of Hell's Gate (too challenging), High Bluff and Wolf Creek Trails. We wanted to hike out to see the Wolf...More

Going off trail along the river is amazing. There are small waterfalls and caverns that make the experience hard to find anywhere else in the state! The lower trails are not well defined and require a lot of scrambling over rocks. If you are fit,...More

Banning State Park is an unexpectedly beautiful place to hike, and I’d never have discovered it if my father hadn’t grown up in the area. There’s a level path at the top of the sandstone cliffs, or you can climb over the rocks closer to...More

The hiking here is amazing! The Quarry Loop along the Kettle River has a ton of history, allowing you to explore the remains of the 130+ year old sandstone quarry. Seeing the drill holes in the cliffs was really cool and the remains of the...More

We aren't an outdoorsy family but I was driven by the opportunity to see rapids and waterfalls. We didn't see waterfalls but had a great time looking at the rapids and hiking, climbing on big rocks and building with sticks and rocks. This was a...More

Nice state park however the hours posted aren't really the hours open. Staff seems to bug out early most days. Stayed here because we live in Southern Minnesota where the weather is vastly different than the great white nort. Alot cooler!! Very quickly discovered that...More

Found this hidden treasure while looking for geocaches. At the most southern end of the park, you will find this hidden treasure! Unmaintained road to the parking lot and a short hike to the falls, it's was totally worth the drive to get here. We...More

This place was great and close enough for a day get-away for my family. There are so many miles of trials that we were able to hike all day, and only see a handful of other people. There are great spots to stop along the...More
