This is one of the best places to take a walk in the twin cities. Many glorious mansions in a variety of styles, including F. Scott Fitzgerald's townhouse where he wrote his first novel. No regular tours of the inside of the houses, but the...More

We love driving down or strolling this avenue. Great majestic homes, most well kept or very nicely restored. Large shady trees grace both sides. F. Scott Fitzgerald once lived here, Garrison Keillor now does. The Minnesota Governor's home is here as well. Summit Avenue parallels...More

I have enjoyed walking, biking, driving this street for many years. Just recently my mother asked for a ride down here. The bonus here is that there are so many things to do just off Summit. While the homes on Summit can be magnificent, so...More

Houses along the broad Summit Avenue are large and of varying architectural styles. Fun to walk along this avenue and take in the scene of historic structures plus folks walking, jogging, and parading with their dogs.

We drove the entire Ave gawking at these beautiful homes. They are a sight to behold. Very enjoyable self tour. If you love architecture, you'll love Summit Ave.

Beautiful examples of various architectural styles as they have evolved in this great city. Tudors, a Victorian or two, and some great Craftsman examples exist.

Such a beautiful street with beautiful homes - one of my absolute favorites for my early morning walk/saunter. Each house is unique, and each spectacular.

As the title indicates, this avenue has the longest stretch of original Victorian architecture in the United States. It's a showcase of "old money" homes, many of which are now subdivided into condos and apartments. It's a beautiful walk, particularly in the autumn. There is...More

We visited St. Paul's Cathedral and then literally just a block away is Summit Avenue. The famous James J. Hill house is located at the beginning of this street. We didn't have a chance to visit the Hill house but we called to ask additional...More
