Once we got to the cave site we had a great experience. Beware- follow the signs not your GPS! This attraction is located 15 minutes outside of Preston, so plan for that. We missed our tour time but had no issue being allowed on the next tour. We love visiting caves and this one did not disappoint. It is an... More

Mystery Cave is in a remote state park. There is a small gift shop with limited snacks, a nature center, and picnic areas. The 1 hour (.5 mile) tour starts across the Root River. There are 4 medium size rooms and 1 small room with lots of wide passages. There are a few pools with a river running through at... More

Toured both Niagara and Mystery caves in one day. Only about 30 minutes apart. Not that busy for the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. We bought our tickets online to ensure we could get on a time we wanted. Definitely wouldn't need to, can buy your ticket at the park and wait for tour time. Will need a state park... More

I have a heart condition and have been to other caves. This one tops it. The walk way is paved there is minimal stairs. The air quality was great. The kids enjoyed it. The underground lake was amazing to see. They have a wonderful picnic area. For a large family it was affordable.

Don't get me wrong the tour was nice, the caves were neat and the state park is very pretty. However we had gone to Jewel cave in South Dakota earlier this summer so our expectations were high. For the price (close to $50 for a family of 4) and the amount of driving we did (2.5 hours one way) we... More

The shortest-available cave tour was very interesting and gave us a good idea of the cave. We visited Niagara Cave before this cave, and the tour was very interesting. The tour guide was very good. This tour is handicap accessible.

We tented at Forestville for a few nights, we were alarmed by the coon population in the park. We had one come up to our picnic table one night while we were standing right there.. our dog didn't even scare it away. Would be nice if the DNR could trap those and relocate them! Campground itself was nice, a little... More

We are avid state Park campers but this was our first visit to this gem of a park. We loved everything and cannot wait to return. Walked 10 miles exploring on a Saturday; really enjoyed Forestville. Loved the cave tour we did. Nice showers and great campsites. And no mosquitos thanks to the local bat population. We will return!
