This morning was low 60's*, little breeze and light clouds. A perfect Minneapolis summer morning to walk a lake! This path can get a little confusing since parts of it could lead through a neighborhood or follow the railroad and veer slightly off the lakeshore. Good space for cyclists as well as runners and walking. Paved paths are well kept... More

Cedar Lake is a bit of a hidden gem in Minneapolis. It is a part of chain of lakes but it’s the quietest and least frequented by the locals, primarily because it’s not encircled by roads that allow motor transport. That’s why it has the best and quietest beaches, the best nature reserves and wildlife and it’s also not touristy... More

We are so lucky in Minneapolis to have all the amazing lakes that we do. Cedar Lake is probably the least busy of the lakes but very enjoyable to bike and easy to get to off of the North Cedar Lake trail if you are biking in from the outer burbs. There are three beaches, a fishing pier and separate... More

Most people who walk around the lakes tend to skip cedar so it is not as crowded as the others. There is not a paved path around this lake like the others but there is a dirt nature trail and a beach. The view of this lake is very natural and secluded for such a big city. I would say... More

I just hiked around Cedar Lake and it was really nice. I usually walk aroung lake of the isles or Calhoun. Those lakes are nice to hike around but there is always a lot of people hiking as well. When I hiked Cedar there was maybe a dozen people for the whole hike. There are three really nice beaches here... More

Here too is a great well established bike trail. I've been on these different trails many a time but without a map I'm not sure which trail is which. So many that connect and make for great ridding options. Always so much to look at from lake views to large new and historic homes to the other bikers. MN is... More

The trails are nice and then the 1st point were theres swimming in shallow water to the drop off area. It's nice and shady close to the beach area and sunny when a bit further away from the beach in the water.

This lake is located right in the heart of Minnepolis. I have swam in this lake since I was a little girl. When we drive past it-- It always brings back wonderful memories of going there for a swim after school at North High School.

We enjoyed 2 hours at Cedar Lake beach on Sunday. The water was clean and clear, the beach (and "facilities") were almost spotless and the people watching was great. Go there for a quieter alternative to the see-and-be-seen beaches in the Twin Cities metro.

like all lakes in uptown Minneapolis- this lake is crowded and has too much car traffic blowing exhaust in the lungs of walkers and joggers.
