Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

These are man-made falls, built on the site of an former natural waterfall, used to power the flour mills which you can still see down either side of this stretch of the river. A stone arch bridge angles across the river, giving you a pretty good view back to the slipway, but if you have the time, better views can be enjoyed from the water power site on Hennepin Island. We found an online heritage trail which runs in a loop around the falls and took us past a few interesting sights from Minneapolis' industrial past. An interesting feature to find in a big city centre - just don't go expecting great natural beauty.

We only had about half an hour to spare, but enjoyed the chance to walk around the (National Park run) lock area and to get views of St. Anthony Falls. You can also see them from the stone arch bridge just downstream, although we didn't have time to go that far.
Parking nearby was a bit difficult on a sunny Saturday afternoon when we visited. I don't think there is any free parking, and even the paid lots were mostly full, but eventually we found a spot. The falls themselves are quite wide but not all that tall, although they are a pretty unique sight in themselves right in the middle of a major metropolitan area. I don't think these are must-see if you're visiting Minneapolis/Saint Paul, but we were happy we'd stopped by to see them.

This is a National Park area and a great city park for relaxing and exercising. Photos are easy to take - their is a lot of good material. Walk the big loop and enjoy the Mississippi River.

We were here May 20, 2021 and everything is still closed. Did walk over the stone arch bridge and got nice pictures. Learned bout how the falls were saved and the use of the falls to generate electricity.

I went on a walking tour or from downtown. I juit I decided to cross the stone arch bridge into Saint Paul. Along the way you get absolutely beautiful views of these waterfalls. They are not the most dynamic. But they are historic and there is a lock system for raising boats up-and-down next to the falls. That is a very interesting aspect of this attraction.

We enjoyed our walk on the bridge. Come to St. Anthony Falls for exercise and a great view of the River.
This is one of the 27 Locks and Dams on the Mighty Mississippi River. St. Anthony's is one of the first Locks. The Mississippi River starts in Minnesota.
The St. Anthony Falls is nice, but I would make sure you see the Minnehaha Falls in the Twin Cities.
The attraction is free and the parking is reasonably priced.

Walked across the Stone Arch bridge to view the falls and the new I-35 bridge. 3 free things for one hike. Went early Sunday am to avoid the heat and crowd, parked about 50 years from the bridge, nice and easy.

Lovely place to stroll as the sun sets. We grabbed dinner nearby and wandered by the falls as the sun set. It was very nice and peaceful.

We recommend this free one hour tour to understand the role of St. Anthony Falls' lock and dam in the development of Minnesota's historic lumber and flour mill industry. A U.S. National Parks ranger took our tour group on a walk to the lock's walls, where we had views of the falls, mighty Mississippi River and Mill District. There is time to photos. Enjoyable for the whole family.
The observation deck at the visitor center is also worth seeing for views and exhibits on lock operation and history.

Not particularly beautiful or interesting but a nice place to walk around and get fresh air. Bikes welcome - not necessarily good for small kids bc of dangers on stairs, narrow areas to walk, etc

Hello,
Asking for the best steakhouse in downtown Minneapolis to go eat at???
And places to go visit there. Ill be there next weekend...

You have so many great options in Minneapolis it is hard to go wrong. If you are open to other cuisine, be sure to check out some of the Thai restaurants. Delish! As for steak, I'd stick with Manny's over Ruth's Chris.

Hello Chapmans5,
On the east side bank of the river, crossing over from Minneapolis city side, there is one of my favorite places, called Wilde Roast Cafe. They have a website that will give you details of their hours, menu, etc. There is parking along Main Street or a block behind there is a parking ramp with underground tunnel access to establishments on Main Street. They also have an outdoor patio which is under an awning. I've seen people there dressed very casual and also dressed up. Save room for their gelato!
Let me know if you have other questions.

Hello 67foxy,
There is a parking ramp located at:
2nd Street South East, Minneapolis. The cost isn't too bad, I'm usually paying $5.00 for the time I am using it. There is also an underground tunnel directly from the parking ramp to Main Street where you can access a few restaurants (Wilde Roast Cafe is my favorite) and then walk across the street to get to the Stone Arch Bridge.
Hope that helps! Let me know if you have other questions!
