Lovely small museum

I brought my then 6 year old son here once. He loved the interactivity of the museum as well as the exhibits about sound.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. Not busy, so kids received a ton of one on one time with the volunteers. Mr. Awesome was just that, he spent a great deal of time in the Benjamin Franklin room with my 10&7 year old. They had an absolute blast. We also spent a substantial time working with the circuits in the great... More

We chose to visit the Bakken Museum on a cold, spring day when we were searching for something to do. What a delightful surprise! The museum is in an old mansion with a fascinating history. The displays center around electricity with interactive, hands on displays as varied as Mary Shelley's Frankiestein or Ben Franklin's experiments to electricity in our bodies.... More

So many different examples of electricity in our lives, from the mundane (lighting our homes) to the story of Mary Shelley and how she came to create the Frankenstein tale; all sorts of interactive experiences to spark inquisitive kids' interest! Even a Mindball game to demonstrate the power of relaxation. Fabulous way to spend a few hours.

A great museum with lots of interactive educational activities. Great smaller alternative to the science museum. Located right off Lake Calhoun so you can make a day filled with lots of great things to do.

Thanks for visiting! The summer is a great time to come back, you can even pack up a lunch and ride a bike over and hang out in our garden or on the green roof that looks out on to the lake. We hope to see you again! More

A unique, interactive Museum of electricity "in" our lives, founded by Earl Bakken - creator of the Medtronic heart pacemaker

Great science museum for my science obsessed sons. One is interested in the body and the other in electricity--this was the perfect combination of both. We happened to go on a day with special exhibits by Frankenstein200.org, which was fantastic. The museum was crawling with volunteers and docents ready to get kids and adults alike involved in the displays. All... More

I can't believe I haven't visited here sooner! We went last night to the preview party for Mary and Her Monster, all about Mary Shelley and how the story Frankenstein came to be. It was small, well done and quite creative... I'm bummed I didn't sit thru the whole "movie", some of the diaglogue got a little long, but sit... More

This is a charming museum, thanks in no small part to the fact that it is a converted mansion with a lovely setting (including small garden you can walk). The exhibit space isn't huge, and it is all focused on electricity, but that still provides surprisingly large ground, including many displays about the human body and medicine (the founder was...
