Coming from NYC and being used to the Met, I did not expect to spend a lot of time here. But it turned out to be a wonderful visit. There were some excellent exhibits and a lot of little treasures. The Vietnamese film was terrific. And its free. Its about a mile from the center city. I got there on... More

So much to see, I really enjoyed going here. Plus it's free! It was a great rainy day activity. Lots of interesting art.

I brought a foreign exchange student to visit the museum who really enjoyed the Native American art and the Minnesota art. The MIA has been changing things around a bit to make some of the exhibits fresher. Many of the furnished rooms had the furniture removed and now had different exhibits inside. Like and exhibit with old botany pictures and... More

I don't really like art, but I do like the MIA. There is so much art to look at -- ancient, Renaissance, Modern, Post-Modern. You name it! They have events that are very engaging. A wonderful experience. Even kids like it.

We just went to the Guillermo Del Toro exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, now called Mia. It was exceptionally weird. That said, I spent about an hour explaining to a Spanish professor friend why she simply has to go see this. Explanations panels are in both English and Spanish. There are video clips of Del Toro's movies and... More

I went for the Guillermo Del Toro exhibit, and had a lovely afternoon in this gorgeous place. Amazing Asian collection as well as Early American, and was thrilled with the contemporary section. The dedicated rooms for modern newer artists was great as well. This museum is obviously well managed and feels alive, unlike some that feel as if things are... More

The MIA has several special exhibits throughout the year. The Annual Art in Bloom showcases wonderful art inspired floral arrangements. Free to all. There is a city park across the street for those interested in a picnic or just relaxing. A short jaunt from downtown Minneapolis.

Perhaps one of the best museum exhibits ever! It takes places annually and it's worth a visit every year!

There honestly aren't many attractions that I'd consider purchasing a lifetime membership pass for but this is one of them. I don't think I could even purchase a membership pass, even though I'd like to, because the MIA does not require a fee for admission. Donations are of course accepted and encouraged (please support them). Any tourist visiting the Twin... More

I love hanging out at Mia and discovering new exhibits and old favorites. The atmosphere is relaxing and accessible, you can easily see the best of the museum in a day.
