This is a fabulous temple complex to visit. It is on a large site and on a hillside so take the lfunicular to the top. The temples are fascinating and very beautiful.

For non-Chinese, the place to go if you are interested in places of worship. The only way up is by private transport.

for followers of Quan Yin this is a most auspicious temple. you should do the full climb and experience the majesty of each level until you reach the top. There behold the giant statue of Quan Yin.

I was last here 20 years ago whrn the temple was a vibrant place of worship and tourist attraction. Now although the interior seems well maintained, the exterior appears to be neglected and rather tatty. The train up to the temple wasn't working and the...More

This was the poorest of the temples we visited in Penang. Too dirty and commercialized with souvenir stands, etc., plus not all that easily accessible.

There are no trains. I would rely on Grab but if I have the time I would take the bus (inexpensive) which is an opportunity for you to observe and absorb much more including the lives of the ordinary people.
