Grand Guan Yin Bodhisattva statue

We made a trip to Kek Lok Si for the magnificent Guan Yin Bodhisattva statue. The view of the entire Penang island was amazing too.

Although we thought the temple was very beautiful, we were disappointed in the huge Buddha at the very top. She (used to be a he) was made put of painted concrete. We had been told it was bronze. We walked up 200 plus steps to get to the top. There were vendors along the way, so we could stop and... More

Really nice Temple with a lot to explore. Don't walk you can drive up as well to the big statue. Only 4 stars because it is filled with unauthentic tourist shops. But you also get an amazing view. So worth the visit

A must visit temple in Penang with magnificent Kwan Yin statue on top of the temple. There is small tram to lift you up see the statue with only few ringgits.

Just to stand in front of the massive statue of the goddess truly takes your breath away. That alone makes it worth the visit. Views from the top are also something to behold. A must see

The temple and complex is well worth the visit and the views are stunning, although I would recommend any visitor to go with a guide because there is very little information regarding the age, history, etc of any of the shrines at all. We did not visit as part of a tour and I felt that we had missed out... More

Set high on a hillside with glorious views to the water and city below. Our driver took us right to the top and we worked our way down, exploring the many levels of the complex. There is a small funicular to assist near the top. Ongoing works made for a few log jams with the crowd. Spectacular buildings, exotic carvings... More
