Great biking

Great trails. Easy to follow. Quaint towns to stop in. Fun going over bridges. River clear. Good for tubing.

We rented a canoe and 6 kayaks for a family trip down the root river. The staff seemed reluctant to be working that day. Very unenthusiastic about kayaks and the river in general. When we were dropped off there was no instruction or help getting kayaks to the river or getting kids into them. No instruction on paddling. The kayaks... More

Root River is a beautiful river in southern MN. I biked the easy Root River Trail that runs along the river and was very impressed ! Although I never stepped foot in the river I saw many people canoeing, kayaking and tubing.

The tubing part was great. Tubes held up fine. The biggest problem is the business' lack of ethics. On our trip down the river we encountered a group of highly intoxicated high school students. Once on shore these kids were swearing in front of the younger children and acting obnoxious. When our driver pulled up to pick up all of... More

The trail was easy to ride with gradual inclines .We rode from Fountain to Preston , then on to the Barn Campground(only steep climb for about 1 Block) for a snack and then finished the ride to and Lanesbo

We've been coming to the area for years now to relax at a B&B and ride the trails. We enjoy biking at our own pace, taking in the beautiful scenery, getting good exercise and returning for a leisurely dinner and an evening walk about town. The shops in Lanesboro are fun to walk through, there are several good restaurants and... More

Loved it except the signage was non existent letting us know of a huge trail closure. The good news is that it got us to Waylen for pie.

We took our 2 granddaughters, ages 6 and 8 tubing. They are good swimmers and they wore life jackets. The woman at the rental place was very lackadaisical about the children's safety so we thought they would be fine. Though we ended up having a fun time, it was scary when the faster part of the river took the 6... More

The bike trail from Lanesboro to Preston was a great ride. It follows the course of the river between the two towns. Fairly level grade so nothing strenuous. If the distance is more than you prefer, you can bike about half way to the junction with the trail heading uphill to fountain.

I had a great experience in Lanesboro. It is a cute town with energetic life. Best place for biking, kayaking and tubing! It has the most beautiful trails and a nice little downtown area to grab ice cream after a long ride.
