We had a wonderful time biking along the Root River at Lanesboro. The trail is quite flat, in excellent condition, and very scenic. The river runs through quiet towns and peaceful farm fields. Most of the trail along the river is wooded, and was comfortable even on a very hot day. We'll certainly visit again.

I believe Southern MN is not known very well for it's beauty. We did a birthday for my son & daughter with a canoe trip down the Root River. We saw breathtaking scenes of forest, hills & valleys.. My only caution is to check water levels before you go. We scraped bottom a few times. Our host Ken (I believe)... More

We rode our bikes on local roads as well as the Root River Trail. It was beautiful, well maintained, and led us to many beautiful little towns.

You can walk right at the base of the falls and feel the cool spray of water on a hot day. A "cool" place to fish!

The Root River area around Lanesboro is always a nice getaway, especially during mid-week. It is low-key... especially if you've been there before. There are no "Must Sees" or "Must Dos". People who want to kayak, canoe, or tube will find fun - if the water levels are right. (Check to be sure - a canoe trip in low water... More

The Root River is an awesome experience for beginner canoeists. But don't bother to buy a trout stamp or bring any fishing gear.

We just thought for a relaxing weekend trip(we stay at MN), so we decided this place. It was 2 hour drive from our place and worth the drive. We reached there only by 2 PM so all the organized tour were closed out. So we just drove to random places and some where very close by the town we saw... More

The waterfall is beautiful, but I really want to comment on the town itself. Lanesboro has the picturesqueness that I thought we would see all over Minnesota. Unfortunately, that has not been the case. But, Lanesboro, with its historic buildings, shopping, wide variety of activities, met my expectations more than any place we visited during our 18 day tour.
