My friend and I came to Harmony for a school project researching the Amish community. Rich was the best tour guide we could have asked for, he filled us with so much information from both the perspective of the Amish and the English (all people who are not Amish are considered English) which was more than we could have asked... Our family of 3 made reservations several days ahead of time (fall is their busiest season) to have a tour guide ride along with us. There were 2 vans full of other patrons leaving at the same time we did so there were times when our guide varied the route to get us to popular farms/shops before the crowds. Tours... More

The audio CD that accompanies this tour is fairly easy to follow if you can stop and go your CD player efficiently. The farms we visited were very interesting and provided a number of handmade items to purchase from baskets to rugs and baked goods. The glimpse into the Amish life is brief as you are greeted by one person... More

I took the van tour, and it was well worth it. The guide was from the community and knew the owners of any of the shops we stopped at and had lots of information about the families and communities in the area. You can drive to the shops yourself, but will be missing great insider information.

Rented a CD that took us to several Amish farm shops but when we got to the first one they had a map to tour many more then what was on the CD so we followed the map instead. CD did have much information about the order of Amish and the area. I would go back here again!

We took the van tour and our guide was the retired dentist in town. He was very respectful of the Amish and told us about their language, food, schooling, way of making a living and more. He answered every question we could come up with! My husband said it was better than he expected and my elementary age kids who... More

We have tried to explore Amish country ourselves and promptly got stuck on a dead end dirt road with no space to turn around. Hey, at least we got the Amish people laughing at us! With Amish Tours of Harmony you can visit several Amish farms, see and talk to real Amish people (no photos please), buy their awesome foods... More

We got the cd in Lanesboro and drove to Preston for the start of the tour and ended in Harmony. We had to repeat the cd several times in order to follow the directions to each address. We wanted to follow the tour at our own pace which we did. We were lucky enough to see the Amish in the... More

We took the CD tour and enjoyed every minute of it. It does basically have the same items at each stop, but make by different families. For instance, they have baskets at each home, but each backet is made by that homeowner, etc,. so each place is a bit different in that regard. And no home tours, these are personal... More
