Breathtaking scenery, no matter the season (just dress for the weather).. One travels the north shore of Lake Superior to reach the state park, a trip that has numerous overlooks and panoramic views of the world's largest fresh water lake. Grand Portage state park has handicapped accessible ramps that lead the hiker through the Grand Portage Reservation forest to viewing... More

Checked out a lot of state parks along the north shore drive. This one is the last one on the road before Canada. You can see the border patrol half a block away as you turn into the park. Beautiful maintained Park, gorgeous views, paved trail, boardwalk for part of it, steps up to several of the high falls viewing... More

Super easy hike to an amazing view. Falls are breathtaking, trail is paved and the visitor center is informative. Small state park but incredible

The visitor center is interesting with exhibits on the natural history and native peoples of the area. There is a paved walkway and broad walk out to the the falls. It is a beautiful and easy walk.

I grew up going to this state park but haven't been back in years. The falls is still as lovely as I remember it. Clean trails within the forest, short and easy hike to the falls. There are several views. Some stairs but nothing too challenging. This is a must-see location in Minnesota for those who've yet to visit. The... More

It was a perfect fall day to take in a delightful hike at Grand Portage State Park. Just across the Canadian/US Border at Pigeon River we hiked for a mile on a very well-kept paved hiking trail. The waterfalls were beautiful, in the Fall two Falls were gushing, if you visit in June all three falls are gushing. Everything was... More

The trail to high falls was easy to follow and were maintained. The falls were beautiful. One of the better falls on the North Shore. There was no fee. Keep an eye on the Border, the entrance is right before the border and it comes up quickly while driving. If you have time, hike some of the trails.

This is a really neat park with some really cool waterfalls. It's about a 1/2 mile walk to the falls, but it's all paved and a nice leisurely walk. Very enjoyable.

What an unexpected find on our day trip to Canada! We saw a sign for a rest area, and we were nearing the border, so it seemed like a good place to stop. Turns out it is Grand Portage State Park, and as we walk into the building there is a sign that there are falls just a half mile... More
