Beautiful views - even in winter!

Seeing the ice heaves and frozen formations is astounding! You walk over the sand dunes and quickly come upon beautiful blue ice - it's quite a sight to see.

Canal Park is wonderful, but, take some time to visit Park Point. The Point is but a short way from the city scene, with natural shoreline and beautiful inland sea vistas. Let your stress blow away with the lake breeze!

First of all, there are good restaurants on the point including Grandma's, a Duluth icon. But the best activity is to stand hear the canal breakwater and watch the ships come in and out of the port. The time of entry and leaving is posted so you know when to expect activity. There is a very nice museum adjacent as... More

After a couple days of hiking on the North Shore we wanted to find a hike closer to Duluth. We stumbled upon a trail at the end of the road near Park Point. See separate Trip Advisor page for "Park Point Nature Trail." Once there the trail is a bit hard to find. Just go to the airport, and then... More

Park Point, Duluth, is an island created by the Duluth Ship Canal's severing of the Minnesota Point peninsula. As we drove through Canal Park and across the Aerial Lift Bridge, we followed a 5-mile street that divides Lake Superior beachfront property from St Louis River beachfront property. Ignoring the closed beaches, except to note a huge cluster of seagulls all... More

Clean freshwater beach. It is great for kids to run loose look for agates, splash in Lake Superior and watch the ore boats go bye....

The vastness of the lake. Sandy, warm (in the sun, for a little while) beaches. Driftwood, dogs and waves. A great visit, and a real feel for the maritime culture around the lake.

This is a beautiful sandy beach in the summer. The water is super cold, but worth dipping a toe in. Last time we were there it was winter and the lake was amazing then, too.
