I can't wait for the repairs to be complete on the trail between Carlton and Duluth, as it is one of the most beautiful bike trails in Minnesota. An easy 14 miles downhill, with lots of woods, birds, and other wildlife to sight along the way.

We didn't have any bikes but I do know you can rent them in Duluth. So we just took a nice walk. The trail goes for miles and is completely paved. easy going to Duluth harder on the return more up hill.

Willard Munger trail is a great ride through some beautiful northern Minnesota scenery. There has been some construction the last few years due to some big storms in Duluth. But these improvements will make the trail more enjoyable in the future.

This was our first ride on the Willard Munger State Trail. On this first of what will be several trips to this trail, we rode to the trail from the main lot at Jay Cook State Park up to the trail; which was a steady climb. We then rode south / west on the trail through Carlton for a ways.... More

We started on the bike path, planning to go out to Carleton from the trailhead in Duluth. The only problem is that about 5 miles in, it is under construction and it is not easy to push bikes through the hiking trails to work around; and the detour directions are not clear -- we ran into hikers who helped us... Before the major flood, this was a great biking trail. There have been various sections of the trail that they are trying to repair, and the last time I was walking on the trail, a sign mentioned closure due to railroad work -- not sure how long that will take. This is a beautiful bike path, a real gem.

We usually pick up the trail in Carlton, MN because we can walk to Jay Cooke Park from there. There are several different ares to connect to the trail. You can also bike from there into the West end of Duluth. It is a paved trail, so it's great for bikes too. They have special dog, horse and cross skiing... More

This is an excellent rail bed trail. The section I walked was from Carlton to the Jay Cooke State Park. I walked about 2 1/2 miles of the trail after walking the Carlton Trail in the park. The section I walked was completely level, paved, and wide. Beautiful walk bordering residential area and natural woodlands. Would recommend this for a... More

We loved the fall colours here on our wedding anniversary - just wished we had brought our bikes along although walking was good also. Since we are geocachers, we loved finding the caches along here. Would love to come back to Duluth area again!
