Take the time to stop at Canal Park and visit this wonderful Museum when strolling Canal Park. I've taken my son here every year and he's always enjoyed the interactive education stations.

This is an interesting place, especially if you like ships and their workings. It's right in Canal Park and you can see a schedule of when the ships are coming through the canal. And they have rest rooms.

A really well set out Maritime Museum which covers all of the Great Lakes shipping history up to modern times. Run by the US Corp of Engineers and volunteers plus it is free to visit (donations gladly accepted). Has a running schedule of what shipping is coming/going and is on the Canals doorstep ! Many interesting exhibits & a film... More

I passed by this many times while visiting Canal Park before finally stopping in. This is really an interesting place to learn about the ships and the history of the shipping industry. It also gives visitors great information on Lake Superior. Truly something for all ages.

Staying at the South Pier Inn, just across the street from the Museum, I stopped by for a pleasant surprise of a visit. Very interesting.

If you're in Duluth you have to visit here. Be sure to check the ship schedule because it is quite something to see when a giant ship comes through the canal. The museum is pretty neat and it does offer a WebCam so you can watch the ships come in go even when you're not in Duluth. Much nicer in... More

Our kids enjoyed the interactive aspects of the exhibits. The models of different types of ships to scale was interesting. The 3-D map of the great lakes showing the varying depths was enlightening. It also provided a great vantage point for viewing.
