About
From the moment you see your beautiful, gleaming, black Daimler arrive to collect you, you just know this day is going to be special. Have a brief chat with your guide, John Baldwin, about the wines you love, the wineries you have to see, where you have already been, and then leave it to this passionate local to personally tailor your tour just for you. These rare 1962 Daimlers can seat up to 8 persons when required, but it is really special to be the only two in the vast back seat of these historic vehicles (used in royal tours of the sixties). Premium wine tastings, sumptuous restaurant lunches with wine, afternoon tea at Maggie Beers Farm Shop are all included, plus free collection and return to your Barossa accommodation. John seems to know everyone, and he loves to share his local knowledge and close friendships which he has formed with the winemakers, with all who tour with him. You can visit the large iconic wineries such as Penfolds,Jacobs Creek and Seppeltsfield or be introduced to the smaller boutique wines at Torbreck, Rockford, Charles Melton and Charles Cimicky, to name a few. A Barossa tour begins at 10am and finishes at 5pm. Adelaide pickups are available (at extra cost) and begin at 9am and finish at 5.30pm. A modern 7 seat Mercedes is also available for tours to the Adelaide Hills, Clare Valley and McLaren Vale and is used for the Adelaide accommodation or Airport pickups.

John & Libby are amazing hosts, guides, and Barossa Ambassadors!
My husband and I enjoyed our first tour with John in December 2009. After spending 8 glorious days exploring the Barossa the tour was our last day - and what a day it was! Truly the highlight of our trip.
I have sometimes wondered if my idyllic memories of our day with John in 2009 had been inflated over the years... they have not.
I have spoken so passionately about our tour with John that when two girlfriends and I decided to spend a week in the Barossa, both friends asked to share in a tour.
John and Libby continue to provide a day that will be cherished for a lifetime. The stories, the history, the wines, and the wine lessons combined with a dreamy Queenly vehicle, decadent lunch, and afternoon tea.... combined to make a day that I will be adding to my first remarkable Daimler Barossa tour till my next visit; and now my friends continue to expand the tales of a magical day well spent.
Thank you John & Libby for continuing to help make cherished memories, and for taking special care of us during the early Coronavirus days.

From booking the tour through Libby, the ride up to the valley where we met John, selection of the wineries and the lunch, everything was seamlessly and flawlessly done.
The enthusiasm John shows and his knowledge about the region, winemakers and wineries were second to none, and his ability to impart this in an informative and interesting way was brilliant.
We're so glad that we got to spend the day with John and will definitely look him up again if we are lucky enough to be able to return to see some more of this great part of the world... Highly recommended!

What an amazing day! From the initial booking process with Libby to the tour itself with John, everything went smoothly and efficiently.
We were celebrating two special birthdays and John tailored the wine tastings perfectly - finding out our preferences before setting off. John is a charming guide, easy to talk to and with a good sense of humour, and knows lots about wine and many other things too - very informative! The cellar door staff were great too and our lunch was fantastic - great food and ambience!
If only the day could have stretched into another! We have truly wonderful memories and thanks to John and Libby for making the birthdays so special in the beautiful Barossa Valley! Highly recommend this experience!

We had an absolutely fantastic time with John in McLaren Vale. I understand he may not offer tour to this region any more as he concentrates on Barossa, but as we had been i contact a year earlier he honoured our request, and we simply could not have asked for more. John is a true, passionate wine expert, and not only that has an extremly broad (and often deep!) knowledge of many other areas. He manages to balance professionalism and friendliness perfectly, really takes note of what you like/don't like and adjusts the tour accordingly. We had a fab lunch at the Victory, and just had a perfect day out. John, thank you so much and we really hope to see you again for a Barossa tour!

We saw a recommendation in the Sunday Times for John and were so glad we took it up. The day that John organised for us included some excellent wine tasting but also incorporated a wide range of craft activities that we had no idea existed in the Barossa Valley. His knowledge is of course extensive and ranges across a very wide spectrum not just of wines but of local history. How he manages to do this day after day and yet is able to convey a freshness each time shows a man in love with his job (and car which was quite unique) supported by Libby his wife who deals very efficiently with the administration. When we come back again we would mostly likely combine a trip of more wine tasting with a search for suitable properties to buy!

We had a fantastic day that exceeded our expectations, everything worked brilliantly from beginning to end.
The whole experience was unforgettable with so many highlights - the flexibility during the day was perfect. We loved all the cellar door visits, each different but memorable. Grange, Rose of Virginia (just for my wife Jane!) and meeting Ian the winemaker at Torbreck were real highlights (amongst the many highlights). Everyone we met was friendly, helpful and hospitable.
There are so many memories we will take away from the day (and we'll no doubt bore family and friends to death about the day for many months or years!)
John was the perfect guide for the day. We loved the banter and humour with him, we felt like royalty in the Daimler. John shared his considerable knowledge of all things Barossa, wine and a myriad of other things. There was nothing about the day I would have changed.
Undoubtedly the highlight of our trip to Australia.

Thank you John for one of the best tourism experiences I've ever enjoyed.
We had a wonderful day soaking up the atmosphere of the Barossa in you gorgeous Daimler.
Our tour was tailored to our interests and included several extra sidelines which were wonderful. Lunch at Vintners was an exceptional inclusion in the day's itinerary.
Everything was amazing and I'd thoroughly recommend it!

We are going to be in the Barossa area in February 2019. Do you also provide tours of the McLaren Vail area? If not who would you recommend?
Thanks Steve Mort

Hello Steve,
Yes, we certainly do a great tour of the McLaren Vale region too. We don't tour other wine regions in the classic 1962 Daimler though...only The Barossa. As Judy has mentioned, our website shows all of our tours and rates, so have a look there and perhaps contact me with dates to check as Feb is already being booked. regards, Libby
