This is such a beautiful spot to get a unique view of Lake Superior and Minnesotas North Shore! Can be dangerous but just be careful and smart about it. This area could be easily missed but when your driving down highway 61 keep a close eye out for it because you don't want to miss it!

I recently went to Palisade Head with a few of my friends and their small kids. The view is spectacular!! I would suggest keeping a close eye on kids that can walk as there are no fences to keep you from going over the edge. For adventurous people that is great though because you can get as close to the... More

You could easily miss the Palisade Head turnoff sign to drive to near the top if not careful. If you come from the south on highway 61, two or three miles after passing through Silver Bay (which is 3-4 miles north of Beaver Bay) it will be on your right. If you get to the new Tettegouche State park visitors... More

Palisade Head is beautiful place to stop along Hwy. #61. I think lots of folks drive by Palisade Head without realizing what a interesting and scenic spot it is. There are few places on the North Shore where you can get such a great view of the lake. HOWEVER, PALISADES IS ALSO QUITE DANGEROUS- THERE AREA NO GUARDRAILS. I saw... More

My daughter wanted to visit so she could get some pictures. Because it is not commercialized at all it feels like you discovered something unknown, especially since there were very few other people there. You have to watch for a small sign to find it. I would not recommend small children because there are no safety rails at the cliffs.... More

We drove up to the parking lot, which already had great views, but our teenage daughters wanted to climb as high as possible! So we climbed with them and we all reached the highest point of Palisade Head. The view was amazing!

Cool rock formation along the North Shore off of Hwy 61. Everytime we come up here we stop at Palisade's Head to get out explore, stretch our legs & enjoy the breathtaking views overlooking Lake Superior. This place has a very steep & narrow road leading up to it so drive with care & bring your hiking boots & camera!!

Palisade Head is a spectacular "little secret" tucked away (and above) the beaten path along Highway 61 on the North Shore of Minnesota. About 2-3 miles north of Silver Bay, MN - you may miss the small sign if you are not looking for it. Just as you past a church on the right side (also called Palisade Head) -... More

Free. Awesome view. My daughter and I walked further off the path and saw more than the paths close to the parking area. It's a must stop.

The first time I had noticed the little sign for the overlook, or however it was listed, I was very pleased with the cool area once I drove up. I hadn't heard about it prior so was clueless it was here. I stop each time now I'm up this way. There is limited parking and a very sharp hill to... More
