Beautiful Inland lake, not far out of town

Beautiful warm and shallow lake not far out of Traverse City. Great swimming for kids. Stop by Moomers for some ice cream after a day at the lake!

The lake is pretty and refreshing with a great deal of possible watersports. Love enjoying lunch on the beach while enjoying the wildlife.

A decent enough area for the public beach. A bit difficult with kids because you need to cross a very busy street with all your beach stuff in tow. We brought our boat as there is a public launch site there, too. What a nightmare! You need to back your boat and vehicle across a very busy street, both lanes,... More

When you visit Traverse City, one of the fun things to do is go to the beach at either West or East Grand Traverse Bay, but another fun way to enjoy the crystal clear waters Up North is to visit the sandy beach at the northwest end of Long Lake! The area is beautiful, fishing is great and it's a... More

We've been vacationing on Long Lake for several years. It's perfectly situated near all the Traverse City area has to offer. Perfectly sized lake for boating, fishing, and other water sports. There are numerous public boat launches and sandy beaches. Private rental cottages abound. Fantastic area restaurants for all tastes. Microbreweries and wineries. Sleeping Bear dunes are a short drive... More

This lake is noted for its winter activities but it is the summer when it is at its best. There is a great public beach with a sandy beach for swimming and a very nice public access for putting in a pontoon boat for a day out picnicking and floating about with friends.

Pros: The lake is beautiful. The islands in the middle are a blast to walk around. During the week in the summer the lake is very tranquil and peaceful. It's a great place to go cruising, kayaking, or watersporting. The sheriff is there enough to prevent any shenanigans. Cons: There is a lot of fishing pressure, so finding fish can... More

on the south side of the lake. Great sandy bottom and a beautiful lake. Approximately 10 miles from Traverse City and a mile from Moomer's Ice Cream. If you are on the south side, Interlochen is just a few miles away. Try Maddy's Tavern for lunch or dinner.

Beautiful clean sand bottom lake just a few minutes from Traverse City. This lake wasn't crystal blue like Glen or Platte, but it was very clean and the sand bottom made it really nice for swimming.

Clean and Clear, Long lake has four wonderful islands to cruise around. The lake looks different every day. One moment it can be calm and the next, big waves. It can get very busy on hot days as there are plenty of homes and vacationers there. The fishing was so so this year but when windy, it is hard to... More
