There was much more than i expected here, its worth following the signs to see all the bits. I paricularly liked the temple which we could easily have missed, and just walking along the whole longer wall. Much of it is not particularly wheelchair firendly.

Saw this town on TV re Roman Britain from the air. Lovely town, roadsigns direct you to the free car park where you can start your walking tour of the town. The Roman remains are extensive, the walk is well sign posted and information boards...More

It is amazing that more people lived in Caerwent circa 200AD than live there today. It is estimated that the population was 3000- they had all mod cons of the day - temple, forum basilica and shops and underfloor heating. There is something quietly special...More

Be prepared to walk a bit, but this is very worth seeing. The historical signage is very informative and there is a lot to see.

Amazingly the walls around former Venta Silurum still stand to over 10 feet! They almost surround the old capital and market of the Silures. The remains are spread out and signposted from the free car park. Well worth a look though it is muddy and...More

Impressive Roman walls to walk around and interesting foundations of Roman buildings. Very good car park and information boards. Pub in village is pretty good also. Caldicot Castle very close , warning - its closed on Mondays.
