I went for the exhibits about Hemingway's early years in the area but also enjoyed the other exhibits. The items from the city's old Winter Carnival were an enjoyable window into the city's past. The parking lot is also a convenient place from which to...More

Great little museum focusing on interesting aspects of Petoskey (Hemingway, winter carnival, Native Americans, etc..) A quick and easy stop to better understand the area, They sponsor a vintage home walk in late September that is very interesting

Petoskey can be justifiably proud of the adaptive reuse of this old building. Wonderful job of displaying some of the history of the Little Traverse Bay area with a very nice feature on the Hemingway (read Ernest) family and the time they spent here from...More

Highlight is the good Hemingway exhibit. Pics and info not otherwise available. Area history of Petoskey, Little Traverse Bay, Bayview, Bay Harbor and Charlevoix also covered. New exhibit on the Women of the area.

For $3, this is worth a stop. It has a very interesting history of the area, including the rail line which went along the shoreline. The section on Ernest Hemingway, who summered in Petoskey, is particularly interesting.

I stopped in this small museum for about 45 minutes, and was delighted to see the same friendly, knowledgeable curator I'd met years before. She's the real gem of this place! Located in Bayfront Park. Parking available right near the museum. This place emphasises the...More

We were here around 30 minutes. It is in an old train station, and is quite small, but a nice museum for $3. A bonus was the woman working there told us quite a few things about local history when we arrived. It is in...More

It's a small museum but has interesting information about the development of the area, including the Hemingway connection and the development of winter activities. I ended up the "tour guide" of our group because of what I had learned. Enjoyable.
