We enjoyed visiting the Ontonagon County Historical Museum. There were many historical exhibits.The workers at the museum were very interesting to talk to.

The museum was fascinating, not only to see the items that were used in homes of the area in days gone by, but also the artifacts that were used in various occupations. I was especially impressed with their display of copper mining.

The collection has tons of personal items from local folks. It's like a trip through a giant attic. I liked the reproduction log cabin especially.

This is not the Field Museum in Chicago, but it is not bad! The history of the area is told through a variety of artifacts. And--there is a lot of history!! Logging, copper mining, fishing, and massive forest fires are all part of the story....More
