Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Reasonable price for basic accommodation.

Major issue is that the music is genuinely ridiculously loud from the dorm rooms. There are plenty of late night shuttles to different locations which they advertise, so it doesn't make any sense to prevent people from sleeping when they need to catch a 2am bus.

I'm all for a good time but the whole point of a hostel is to sleep. Advertise it as a kids night club in future.

I went with a good group of people on the sunset volcano bording tour. It was incredible fun.

You leave on a bus to the area and volcano, you then have the choice to pay a porter to carry your board or you carry it up the volcano. All safety gear, boiler suit and bag are given to you.

After the hike up and lots of photos, you are given a safety briefing and start the slide. You have one go each, and it goes quick. About 30 seconds and you are at the bottom!

The slide was great, faster than I expected and you get covered in Ash and fine black stones. But so worth it.

We then had drinks, sunset, marshmallows over a fire and a meal at a local house.

Parry bus back to the city with flowing drinks made for an excellent end of the day.

Great organization with super friendly staff. They don’t only have an hostel in Leon but book tours and shuttles around whole Nicaragua. We used this several times and it was always excellent!

It was a blast!
The actual volcano boarding itself isn't as scary. It seems super scary when you're up top, but once you do it, you'll be in control.

You meet at the hostel, grab your t-shirts, get the info and then head to the volcano. in the bus, its a good way to meet people.

Then you hike up the volcano, can take 45 minutes, and yes, it can get tiring. I'd put it as an intermediate. But it is quick.

Once up top, you will get instrucitons and then board down.

I'd recommend going first, so that you can see the others come down.

After the baording, we get on the bus and the party starts. You have a nice dinner and marshmellows.
And the party bus goes HAAARD all the way back to the city!

One of the most memorable expereinces of my life, and I strongly recommend.

I acknowledge that I paid for this without knowing the risks, but because of that I’d like to share why I think others should reconsider or be MORE prepared than I was.
The guide didn’t feel as prepared as I felt he should’ve. He forgot to bring the food for s’mores so they just started a campfire and gave us chips instead. Because there was a terrible storm, we were expected to hurry up the volcano with only one break that only lasted about 2 minutes during a 45 minute hike. We weren’t able to stop along the way to take pictures or anything—which I understand, there was a storm, but maybe we could’ve waited for the storm to be over before we started the hike. We weren’t given any updates during the hike like we have ___ minutes to go”. Additionally, they never checked with us about health conditions or experience hiking before we went; again, I understand that I signed up for it, so I get what I paid for, but normally during excursions like this, it is a norm to ask questions like this. Lastly, you need to bring your own band aids because if you cut your hands, they only have tissue.

Overall, my friends enjoyed it, but multiple times throughout the trip we were worried about our safety because of the conditions the storm caused (very close lightning to where we were hiking, inability to slow down our boards because of the wet rocks, no access to first aide) and because of improper gear (inability to see through the goggles and no helmets provided).

For an example, my friend wanted to go VERY slow down the hill and ended up going 60 kilometers/hr! She literally had the fastest time in our group; it felt unsafe because there was no way to go slow with the ground wet.

I’d recommend this only for someone who REALLY likes extreme sports. Hope this helps!

Did not stay here but paid $35 dollars for volcano boarding tour.
Inexperienced guides risked our lives during thunderstorm. Zero first aid training or general outdoors experience.
Old and tired equipment. Nails sticking out of the boards cut two riders.
Dinner at a "local family"s place was nice. They all seemed miserable, as if they were not fairly compensated for the food.
Upon receiving critism both guide and hostel owner were rude and dismissive. I employ all travellers to avoid this accomodation and tour. Terrible experience.

Definitely a party hostel but if you go with the flow you won't be disappointed. Pod beds quiet clean and with sockets and lights. Walking tour with Leo was great as well as volcano boarding.

Loved the hostel. Big and friendly. The showers were powerful and had plenty of space. Lots of toilets. Lovely pool and chill area. Great bar for entertainment and games. Room was big and pod comfortable, had my own light and electric socket to charge.

Highly recommended

I got a shuttle with big foot arriving at 2am to El Salvador so they do half price accommodation. It’s really irresponsible as it’s a totally pounding party hostel with no potential for sleep.

That aside, I’ve also never witnessed a group in a worse state when the party returned from volcano boarding. I saw a grand total of five people puke on the themselves. 3 more were totally slumped over in chairs, unresponsive. Two unresponsive in the shower. It’s a total mess - the company should have a responsibility to give out drinks and have a good time, but not to the extent that so many people are unwell and/or vulnerable.
