I stayed at Sonati in León & Estelí and did a few different tours with them including El Hoyo volcano overnight, Kayaking and Somoto canyon. The staff is super helpful and friendly + their profits go to environmental education for children. so only love for Sonati :)

Did the full day hike up Telica (9am to 9pm) and it was amazing! First off, this was a tough trek. We walked about 13 miles in total and much of that was uphill in the heat of the day. Having said that, it was totally worth it. You take a chicken bus to near the base of the volcano,... More

I don't like leaving a poor review for a company that uses its profits for an environmental program for Nicaragua but I was very disappointed in them. I started messaging them back in April 2016 about volcano boarding with my two kids because I absolutely love how they use their revenue. They promptly responded several times saying that can take... For $17US we had a fabulous day. We took two chicken buses to Las Penitas beach and walked up the shore. We learned about the different kinds of mangroves, saw some baby turtles, had intellectual conversations with the tour guides, ate wonderful food and laughed and laughed all day long. I realize we lucked into this day of hilarious adventure,... More

This was our first trip to Leon. Sonati looks like an Not for Profit Organization, so we decided to save some money and take advice with their tours. We choose Cerro Negro, Old Leon (mistake...), and the Laguna. The tourist guides did their best, but they are really learning about the city (one from Vermont and the other from Toronto),... More

I did mail Sonati far in advance and they did reply promptly with details. Because I did not receive a confirmation I mailed them in December again. They mailed me back that they where waiting for more bookings. On there site they stated that you can do the tour by paying extra if not enough (= 4 people) did book.... More

We are Canadians living in Nicaragua and when our two teenage grandsons decided to come visit us for a Christmas vacation, we went looking for an adventurous tour that would let them experience a volcano hike. With both Telica and Momotombo volcanoes acting up at the time, we decided on a two-day package with Sonati Tours out of Leon that... More

Such a fantastic tour group!! We went to Cerro Negro, ruins of Old Leon and went swimming in a laguna. The guides were so nice and friendly! They explained everything perfectly and didn't rush us when we went walking. I'd definitely go on other tours with them again, or even the same one. It was a lot of fun!

We had a great field-trip to the top of Cerro Negro. Just the right amount of exersize getting up there while contemplating the spectacular 360 degrees views. Volcano boarding back down turned out to be amazing despite my skepticism. Well taken care of by the guide from Sonati I recommend this trip warmly!
