We have floated past this beautiful island on our picture rock boat tour many times, this year we did the sunset cruise. This did not fail to capture everyone on the tour attention at twilight.

This was a location I was only able to see from the boat tour but I would like to visit the Island. If it weren't for the boat tour I would not have known it was here!

A quick ferry ride across the channel from Munising. Took the bus tour to get an overview of the island and got an interesting history lesson with it. Talked with some cyclers who seemed to really enjoy their bike tour as well. Rugged terrain , beautiful woods and a couple of sand beaches.

We spent the day enjoying a bike ride around the island. The views were fantastic and the beaches were beautiful. We essentially had the island to ourselves as there were very view hikers and other cyclists who travel beyond the immediate area of the dock.

We had decided to come to the UP MI for a fall vacation to see another side of Lake Superior other than the Duluth, MN side. Though it has been a real warm year and the colors have not quite turned yet the area and it's history was amazing. We took the Grand Island 3 1/2 tour. Eric was our... More

We opted for the bus tour because our time was limited and we were so glad we did. Our guide, "Eric", was so very informative. Clearly loved the history of the island as well as the flora and fauna of the island. Enjoyed the beautiful, very old pioneer cemetery. A very nice tour bus! We had expected a school bus... More

This lighthouse is strictly for viewing and only by boat. This lighthouse is charming but you cannot walk grounds or visit. Pictures only folks. We saw it by way of the Shipwreck Cruises

My partner and I spent several nights here around Labor Day. What a great place to go backpacking! If you have mountain bikes, it's also a great place to go for a day ride or to go back country camping with bikes. You can also do bus tours around the southern part if you want to just come from the... More

The 3 minute ferry ride over to the island was $15/pp. It was round trip but the return ride was only 4 minutes. I think that is a bit pricey. The bus tour was about 2 1/2 hours & also cost $15/pp. Our tour guide was named Eric and he did a great job! Several stopping points on the tour... More

I just went by Grand Island by boat. But seeing this lighthouse was stunning! A must see in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan.
