Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The most impressive statue of Amir Timur / Tamerlan in Uzbekistan.
Drive from Samarkand through the pass, it is better to choose clear weather - clouds already cling to the peaks, but in poor view of the valleys almost no. It's like a plane in the clouds.
The park is huge.
Smaller mosques than in the cities, Timur's palace - ruins, but the statue is well worth visiting.

Ordinary statue in a flat parklike setting.
No wow factor at all. Of course the Emir is historically significant nut sadly the picture of the statue has the plain back wall of the palace as a backdrop.
Worth the short walk nut not a must see.

Like many of the Amir Timur statues throughout Uzbekistan, this one is very popular with locals, and particularly wedding parties.

The statue of Timur is large and impressive. But what makes this especially interesting is the Ak Saray (White Palace) in the background. This makes for a great photo op!

Observed as a national hero and a kind of divine in Uzbekistan, Amir Temur has three statues.
This one in Shahrisabz is the biggest one, representing him standing behind the imposing gates of his former huge palace.
Other two statues are: equestrian statue located in Tashkent and seating statue in Samarkand.

What can I say ? You've come to Shahrisabz, you've just walked past the Timur's palace, on the way to the madrassa - you cannot miss it. The authorities have razed the whole area and turned it into lawns, flowerbeds and empty shops . . . what a disgrace. Just take the selfie and move on.

If you are based in Samarkand and contemplating a trip down to Shakhrisabaz then I think it is worth making the effort - for the journey it's self as some of the views as one comes across the hills are gorgeous.
The statue it's self is certainly impoing - it sits in front of the ruins of part of his palace - the rest of whatever was here has been lost below very sanitised parkland - in fact the whole area which stretches in front of the statue has been developed iwith flats, shops and the like.
As commented on there are many brides who take the opportunity to have their photographs taken with the statue - which is really sweet I think.
Worth seeing as a statue but the trip to get here was better !

This grand statue stands in a new park surrounding the ruins of the palace. It faces south with the ruin behind. …. but the front façade of the palace remains faces north, so the photos show the undecorated back of the ruin.
