We had a bit of trouble finding this location on maps and various websites, but it is also listed under the name Wat Phu. Once we sorted out the location, we hired scooters from our hotel in Paske and took a scenic leisurely drive (about...More

The peace and quiet in this ancient temple ruins is fantastic, take plenty of time to stay there. Climb up to the holy source via uneven steps and stairs, it's definitely worth the sweat. The museum too is worth a visit. As it was so...More

This is an amazing place to discover. If you love archaeology and follow the Angkorian civilization, here you are in one important historical chain. If you admire ancient sites but look for adventures, here there is much to offer. The site is more ancient that...More

I went here with a friend for back pack. We drove a motorbike from city. It was like 2 hours drive. The site is not really in a good condition. But everything paid with all those experiences and scenery, even I put this place in...More

Entirely do-able within two hours. Arrived at 4 pm and ended the visit at 6 pm. A good guide would be most helpful in pointing out the details of the site. Otherwise, just go and imagine the awesomeness the Vat Phou complex must have inspired...More

We caught a car with a group of Laos people from a market in Pakse. That was cool. The wife of the driver gave us lychees that were grown in Vietnam. The driver dropped us at the main entrance to the national park. A long...More

Travelled here from Champasak town, 15 mins by road. Walked through the ruined temples and climbed the stairs to the top of the hill. Definitely worth seeing and visit in the cool of the day.

After seeing Angkor Wat and other temples in Cambodia this was a bit of a disappointment. It is historical in that it was built first i understand but the reconstruction taking place throws off the whole idea of being authentic. The climb up the mountain...More

This is a spectacular pre-Angkorian temple that sits amidst the rice fields and waterways. I believe it to be one of Lao's most revered temples and is well worth a visit with a private tour guide to explain all the hidden treasures amidst the ruins.

We drove there by scooter (1h from Pakxe). Entree-fee was 50.000 kip p.P. + 5.000 kip parking. After climbing upstairs you get an amazing view over the temple and the Mekong landscape! Might be even more fascinating when you know more about the Khmer History...More
