Overview
More
Nowhere else does such a rare and exceptional collection of Mackinac-related art and photography come together to tell Mackinac’s story. In complement to the natural beauty of Mackinac Island, The Richard and Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum allows visitors to experience fine and decorative arts inspired by Mackinac through the ages. One of the most diverse art museums in the region, the museum’s collection offers no shortage of beauty and history – from hand-beaded Native American garments and 17th and 18th-century maps of the Great Lakes, to one-of-a-kind pieces from the height of Mackinac Island’s Victorian era. Original photographs from the mid-19th to the mid-20th century present the beauty of Mackinac as captured by the camera’s eye. Featured are the works of William H. Gardiner, including dozens of his famed early-twentieth century hand-tinted views.

The Manoogian's have collected a wide variety of fine and decorative arts and have them on display at this museum. The building itself has been used for many purposes but it was restored and converted to house the Manoogian collection. Most of the pieces are...More

Thank you for taking the time to review, and we're glad you enjoyed our exhibits and galleries within the museum. However, looking through historic records, no slaves ever lived in or were kept in this facility. It served as an administration building for the federal...More

Paintings and drawings from 1600s-1700s to contemporary art, lots to see in an historic building. Very nicely curated and arranged with sufficient explanation with each exhibit that a guide isn't necessary. Admission price is included with stays at certain hotels.

The day we visited they had a craft for kids (and parents) downstairs and there is a small playground right out back. Admission was included with the Heritage Pass!

This museum is included as part of the Fort Mackinac ticket price. It's a small art museum, but is worth the time in your visit to the island to browse.

When you buy your fort ticket it includes admission here, or you can purchase separately. This is worth 15-30 min of your time. Some great displays.
