The first nine holes of the Jewel are known as the Grand Nine. The fairways are neat and clean, while the greens are fast and true. Power carts make playing this hilly nine hole layout much easier than walking. The back nine holes, referred to as the Woods Nine, are located 1 1/4 miles from the Grand Nine. Access from... More

A great well taken care of golf course. The back nine are the best because you are transported on a carriage pulled by horses. Lake and forest view. Enjoy the breeze and have a sip or a meal at the restaurant in the back nine. Or enjoy a wonderful meal at The Grand. Worth every penny.

Imagine going back in time........you get off the ferry and are greeted by a carriage driver in top hat and period dress and are taken on a winding road with flowers galore and the hustle and bustle of a town full of people strolling down the streets. You look up to the top of the hill and see a sprawling... More

I LOVE the GRAND HOTEL!!! It is a throw back in time of class and sophistication and the beauty and views are so worth the trip!!! Came in 07 and decided on a second run, it was even more impressive!!!! The island is beautiful although the horse and carriage tours are over rated! I say ferry over, walk around, look... More

Played front 9 while staying at the Grand. I wish we had time to play the back 9. Front 9 puts up a good challenge, but not ridiculous for novice players. A good mix of open fairways and some tight ones too. Hole 6 or 7 provides a great view of the surrounding lakes on south side of island. Course... More

Keep a close eye on your golf equipment. It is too bad you cant trust the Jewel to keep your bag safe. Had equipment stole from my bag from a member the pro knew. I grounds keeper was honest enough to tell me who stole it.

If you are here you must pay your $10 a person and go see the Grand Hotel. It is worth your time and money. You need to experience the opulence of the Hotel. The expanse of the porch, hallways and lobby. You need to see the vivid colors and smell the flowers as you walk through. You must see courtyard... More

This a gorgeous hotel but to be charged $10 per person just to walk through it seemed excessive. Food there was expensive and the staff was less than friendly.

We had a great time playing on the Jewel. The staff was great, the course is very well groomed and taken care of and looked good considering that it was the beginning of the season and that the area had a pretty rough winter. Can't wait to play there again!!
