We took the horse taxi up and walked down on a very wet day. It was still a good view east and west from the island's plateau. A spectacular effort has been made to recreate this historic fort at it's original location.

We walked to Fort Holmes which offered shelter during a short rain storm. Take the time to read about the history of the fort while you're there.

This was our first visit to Fort Holmes since they rebuilt the fort. I think they did an excellent job recreating the fort. I also like the little plaques that detail the history. I was disappointed that we couldn't get up into the 2nd floor...More

The stair climb up is not that bad- we made it up within 3 minutes. They have benches along the way for those who need to stop and rest. Best views - so beautiful

The 2015 rebuild of the old fort on the island's highest point is worth the walk or ride. Great views from there and the new fort looks great and should last for a very long time. Good for kids to understand the historical significance and...More

This is the highest point on the Island. The fort has been rebuild with lots of good information if you are into history. Going there just for the view is enough.
