I did a morning kayak trip and it was spectacular. Only fisherman along the stretch going for salmon, steelhead and lake trout. This segment was very easy to navigate. What a perfect way to start a Saturday morning!

Very large river off Lake Michigan/pere Marquette lake. Popular fishing spot for steelhead and Salmon. Several family friendly parks, boat launches and access points for wading. Also popular for kayak, canoes, tubing.

Kayak rentals are available, but the river is not wooded. It is all in the open wetlands winding through the cattails. Bring hats and suntan lotion if you paddle in the summer.

Was a peaceful fun two hour trip. Lotsa activity. Kinda tough to explain away the "language" to my nine year old. I kinda expected it. So be prepared for adult activity.

My mother and I kayaked six miles down this river in the early morning. Only one other person was fishing on the river. It was calm, gorgeous, and had amazing wildlife and foliage.

This national scenic river is a premier trout stream, and great for day trips with the family or friends. Several outfitters rent tubes, kayaks and canoes; you can see eagles, other birds and assorted wildlife, especially in the stretches further upriver from Ludington. Not a...More
