Touristy area of Traverse City area that is worth the visit, escpecially if you have kids in tow. They will love the fish ladder and all the little shops. Great, cheap places to eat, and you can watch the fresj catch come in and get prepared for the multitude of restaurants (or take some home yourself).

If you're from South Carolina, you know fishing docks. We are and we did enjoy these quaint shops and talking with owners and visitors. Fishtown Preservation Society has done an excellent job maintaining and holding things true to the village past. It is everything seen in the brochures: shops, netting, fishing charter boats and, of course, a magnificent view of... More

I have always heard and seen pictures about Fishtown but had never visited. This place is super cute. It sits on Lake Michigan with a dam in between the docks. We stopped on our driving tour of M-22 before heading towards Traverse City. Very touristy, but it's a perfect location for happy hour.

Liked the location and charm of this place. It might be old and rough around the edges, but my guess is if you're accustomed to Four Seasons type of accommodations, you're probably not coming to Leland, MI anyway. The river is great, private beach access is fantastic, and the staff is friendly. Yes, the room decor probably needs to be... More

Old time fishing village with quaint shops on the Carp river in Leland. It's definitely touristy, but worth the visit.

This was a great little fishing village with cute shops. Unfortunately it was cold on the day we visited, so we didn't stay as long as we would have had it been warm. Definitely worth the stop if going past.

This was my first time to Fishtown, which is a quaint little fishing village that is located in Leland, Michigan. I have heard that this is the 2nd most popular destination in the Leelanau Peninsula. It's a great little town with a handful of personable restaurants, several little shops, and of course, the restored fishing village on the lake. Fishtown... More

Great little town, we just stopped as we were passing through so didn't spend too much time. Great view of the water and some cute little shops. If your lucky you. An see the salmon swimming up the dam and flip out if the water! That was kinda cool! Looks like do a good job of preserving the old fish... More

Stop here and just stand still and look out to the lake. You will hear stories of fishing boats and days gone by. Then go into Carlsons and buy some of their wonderful fish pate! We were visiting from Canada and were so impressed with this little spot.
