BUY THE WINE! It is so good and you really can't find it outside the area. I visit twice a year and always buy a full case of their Riesling. It is expensive compared to some of the other Northern Michigan wineries that specialize in fruit wines but their offering will stand up to many a wine snob.

Stopped here while in Leland. Friendly staff, entertaining and not snobby. Although we didn't purchase any wine or cider, we still had a great time here.

Gill's Pier Vineyard is a quaint winery with a friendly staff and great wines. This is one of our favorite wineries on the Leelanau Peninsula.

We loved this winery! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. When we arrived it was quite busy. They greeted us immediately and asked if we could wait a few minutes until there was room at the tasting bar. We were happy to wait. In less than two minutes they had cleared a spot for us (without being rude or disrupting... More

Our inclination to buy wine at a tasting room is based on both the quality/value of the wine and the engaging conversation with the host or hostess. We bought one bottle. The hostess was all business, but the wine was good. Nice tasting room too.

My husband and I visited the Traverse City area in May. When researching the area I was surprised to find so many wineries. We are wine people, so of course we took a day to explore some of them. Gills Pier was a delight. The lady there (I think Laurie) was very friendly and knowledgeable. The wines were good. Being... More

Our recent visit back to Gill's Pier was just as great as our first a few years ago. The Wine, oh so great. The staff is superb.

Went for a tasting on Labor Day - our first winery on a short tour - and had a very helpful and informative woman behind the counter. I really didn't expect to buy any wine in Michigan frankly, but I enjoyed the Cab Franc/Merlot blend and picked up a bottle. Nice pond/garden area that would make a lovely picnic area... More

Gill's Pier has a very good selection of wine. We have been twice but many years apart, both times we were extremely impressed with wine and the friendly staff.

Not sure why the prior reviewer found the folks at Gill's Pier "uppity." Hardly a description I would offer the staff. We've been their twice recently...once for the annual Leelanau event "Sip and Savor" and more recently for their annual Memorial Day barbecue outing. While both of the activities yielded a busy tasting room and a bustle of activity, the... More
