A fun way to spend a few hours, after skiing!

Be sure to watch the 20 minute movie about the history of the Hall of Fame. I never knew that Ishpeming was so influential in the ski industry. The exhibits are fun to walk... read more

And if you are not necessarily that much into skiing, there is a bit of history here especially around the second world war. Turns out that American skiing was all but invented around hereabouts. If you have to choose, I would do the Iron Industry Museum first. But it is not too hard to do both as they are near... More

Be sure to watch the 20 minute movie about the history of the Hall of Fame. I never knew that Ishpeming was so influential in the ski industry. The exhibits are fun to walk through and I love the Norwegian and Swedish history and to see the old skis!

The National Ski and Snowboard Museum is what you need to see if you like winter sports. Like Cooperstown,NY is to baseball, and Canton, OH is to football, the Upper Peninsula of MI is to skiing. The oldest ski club in the US is still here. Many fascinating photos, and displays of older ski equipment. Admission is by suggested donation,... More

what a fascinating place to visit. AND I'M NOT A SKIER! It's just so eye opening to walk around and learn about skiing and it's history and how popular it is and who all is involved. And wait till you see the design of the building, it's like two ski jumps, the building is so cool.

We attended Hall of Fame inductee Jeannie Thoren's birthday bash. The Hall of Fame is a wonderful resource for everything ski related. Wonderful displays. A really awesome library. Nice gift shop. A must-see stop.

Learned all about the history of the U.S. national ski team, the Olympic winners from past years. Enormous display of memorabilia related to all things ski/snowboard related. Beautiful facility.

Once again, a spot I've been to in the past but rushed through on another visit lately. Free admission, so if it's a rainy or miserable day and you're in the area, it's worth the time, especially if you're into skiing. If not, it's still an interesting and informative museum.

A fabulous trove of ski memorabilia is archived in this museum. The fellow that was there the day we went was gracious, welcoming, and extremely informative.

While I would not of driven here just to see it, I always stop at educational venues when traveling. We watched a video and looked at skis and some skiers. They take donations. We spent about 1.5 hours her and also explored the gift shop. We then traveled to the ski jump just to see what started it all off.... More

I've stopped here a few times before, but never for recreation until this past weekend. It's a neat little museum and definitely worth a stop. (Easy to get to, right on US-41.) I'm not really into skiing or snowboarding, but I found it interesting. It's very meticulously maintained. Free admission, but worth a donation on your way out.
