Great place to camp

Camping and more, slides for the kids to enjoy in the water. Great 4th of July fireworks. Even if you live close by its fun to get away and not drive so far.

I would say that this is the best camping in Oakland county. Large mature trees not crowded or full of cement, more rustic feel and a great beach but still close to home. Our favorite for close camping.

This Rec Area is spread out in Northwest Oakland County. Lots to do and see. Fairly well marked trails get you back to nature. If you are a photographer (I am) you can photograph sunset at the east end of Heron Lake, South off McGinnis Rd. Sand hill Cranes frequent the area but may be too far to photograph.

Beautiful scenery with something to do for everyone. Non gas motor boats only on three lakes, makes fishing more delightful. Lots to see and do in nature!

This campground is heavily wooded but has amazing paved pads in most of the non primitive sites. Paving throughout good for bike riding. Everything feels brand new, the bathrooms are so clean. The activities they had were a blast! The Park is huge tons of fishing, trail hiking and riding, Disc Golf, Swimming, Pet Friendly and you feel miles away... More

Holly Recreation Area is a state park with 3 lakes. Heron Lake is the largest with a large sandy beach, bath house/snack shop, picnic tables and grills, kayaks and sm. rowboats to rent. There is also a separate road to their boat ramp and a separate fenced dock for fishing. There's a nice trail through the woods that connects the... More

Loved this location for their beautiful beach and exciting new attraction: Jump Island. My family enjoyed the swimming, having a picnic and 45 mins on the Jump Island obstacle course. Kids have to be at least 42 inches and with an adult. We had a blast but it is exhausting. Now, I understand why they want you to rest before... More

Absolutely clean, beautiful campground with isolated sites surrounded by forest. Lots of hiking, kayak rentals, swimming, and activities for kids.

Pretty much anything you need in a campground, Holly has it. The sites are wooded, the lake is beautiful, the rangers are friendly. We've camped here for the past 13 years and the park just keeps getting better and better. We camp for July 4th. We ran into a snag this year but not with the park. We usually watch... More
