FASCINATING. I had absolutely no feeling for this attraction until my wife and I stopped to check it out. It is, after all, right on the road to Copper Harbor as you are heading North out of Hancock. As a result we had passed the...More

We have done this a couple times now, it is very fun and educational. You get to see the steam hoist, the ruins, and go into a underground shaft. My wife is very skittish and at no time did she feel unsafe, which was shocking...More

The guides had quick and interesting answers for all of our questions. During the above ground tour there was plenty of time to learn about the steam hoist and take pictures. I enjoyed the small scale models which helped me understand how miners were transported...More

This tour takes you down to the entrance on a cog wheel tram. You then take a ride into the mine to explore. There are informative displays set up throughout. You do get to walk around in the mine a bit, but not as much...More

This was our first stop as we explored the Keweenaw and really helped get an idea of what went on during that time. There is a tram ride down to the mine, another ride into the mine and some mine exploration. The tour continued with...More

This was a great mine to tour. The surface tour and underground tour were really cool. Also temperature. The inside of the mine is around 40 F (4.5 C). Would suggest not wearing shorts as you are in the mine for about 1 hour. This...More

We loved this tour. I won't repeat what all the other reviewers have said. I walked over much of the property and got some great photos. Make sure you take the full tour, which includes going in to the mine, and going to the hoist...More

Don't even think twice about it, this is a must-see in Houghton/Hancock! It's informative enough that my husband and I were intrigued, but fun enough for the whole family. The staff were all professional and friendly. Highly recommend!!

Our tour was interesting and informative . It started with a cog train ride down a steep slope to mine entrance and reboarding a transport 1/2 mile into the 1800's workings of the mine. 43 degrees but the tour supplied the heavy coats and helmut....More

There is no need to reserve tickets, but wherever you travel, you never know if the same great idea occurred to everyone else at the same time. It's a good idea for any kind of tour to make sure you're there in plenty of... More
