Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Definitely not what it used to be!
Water slide gone - new parking conditions (worse and more expensive).
Considering it was school holidays I would have thought Melbourne's premiere public pool would have made more of an effort to accommodate patrons, especially considering the cost involved in visiting.
VERY DISAPPOINTED MSAC!!!

Hi Peddaa. Thanks for your review. Our parking conditions have not changed recently. We do offer the first hour of parking for free, and members receive 3 hours of free parking per day. We understand the disappointment at seeing it gone, but unfortunately the water slide had come to the end of it's working life. We have added in a whole new range family friendly activities such as our inflatables. We hope you will give us another chance and visit us again soon.

I had my first visit to MSAC last weekend whilst staying in the city. I'm a regular swimmer and love an outdoor 50 metre pool. I won't be rushing back. Firstly the positive - the outdoor 50 metre pool was lovely to swim in. Now the negatives. We were told on arrival that they don't accept cash. Since when is legal tender not acceptable? Luckily I had a credit card with me, but my friend didn't. Secondly, the women's showers near the outdoor pool are terrible! The water is angled so far away from the wall that it hits the door. It's not ideal showering when your bag and towel are getting wetter than you are! For Melbourne's premier swimming facility, it really needs some major improvement.

If you are joining MSAC for the yoga or Pilates classes don't bother.
This centre is very very noisy inside. You can hear the noise from the pool loud speakers, music even 3 floors up in the 'wellness centre' which should be a quiet zen kind of place. The fact that you are in the midst of class doing meditation doesn't stop the cleaning crew doing the vacuuming outside your door and The toilets nearby yoga room get locked up before the class finishes. There are very few group classes after 6.30pm as clearly they cater for the 9-5 worker. During the period of my membership many if the bathroom facilities were closed for renovation. I want to cancel my membership as I am not happy however I am required to give 30 days notice and to do this I need to MAKE AN APPOINTMENT . Excuse me?

Direct from their website:
3.0 Direct Debit Membership Cancellation
To cancel your direct debit membership, you need to notify MSAC of your request to cancel, and make an appointment to see a Membership Services Supervisor. Please note that Gym Instructors and Membership service staff do not have authority to approve a cancellation. The cancellation will take effect 30 days from completing the cancellation paperwork. Cancellations are not accepted verbally.
MSAC the sports centre that has a big name but sooooo does not deliver.
Boo MSAC. You suck.

flow rider is brilliant fun for the whole family even though the stand up surfing could potentially cause serious spinal injury you pushed your self too hard. the boogie board style is easy and super fun ,. excellent value only $20 for the whole afternoon. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star is because there is no spa for under 16s so the kids couldn't warm up so easily

This place is great for a day of pool fun, there is wave pool, lane swimming, diving pool and both indoor and outdoor pools. Outside there is plenty of room for sunbathing. It is very good value. The major problem for us was that there is a shocking shortage of lockers (we could not get one the whole time we were there) this meant we had to take it in turns to go in the pools which did put a dampener on our day. If they could sort this out it would be perfect day out.

Would reccomend!

Reasonable pricing for hire which made for a fun afternoon activity while we’ve got family down visiting from East Gippsland!

$8 for 30mins / $16 for 1hr table hire
Balls complimentary
Bat hire approx $4.20

Parking first hr free then $5.20 each hour after

Suggestions:
Could do with new bats as the rubber was peeling back off some bats, not all. To be fair the customer service staff didn’t make us pay for the 2x bat hire as the rubber was peeling off.
Air con or fans could have been on in the area as it heats up in there!

Great center. Good service. Lockers let you take things in and out. Good store to buy swim kit. The outdoor pool is *unique* insofar as it's covered, but outdoors. Stayed near there to swim there - and was glad I did.

MSAC boasts a great place for swimming but if you are not part of a squad that swims there don't waste your time and go somewhere else. There are too many events or other squads which leave too few lanes for regular swimmers before or after work.
Staff don't really care about this issue as they hear it all the time. Bathrooms are in general filthy and while they invest in new restaurants and a foyer, an extra cleaner would be good.
The prices for a swim are generally at a 20-30% premium than anywhere else which leaves it hard to justify the expense.

MSAC was built in the mid 1990's by the progressive Kennett/Stockdale government along with a dozen other major infrastructure projects. It has a wave and Olympic standard pools and hosted the 2006 Commonwealth (formally British Empire) Games swimming and diving events. In addition there are change rooms, toilets, saunas, cafe and child care facilities along with basketball, squash, table tennis, badminton courts. Up stairs (lift available) there is a membership gym and MSAC administration. Plenty of car parking nearby but it is fee paying. Near MSAC light rail stop on the No 96 route and the No12 tram too.
