Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

WARNING!! The cave is nice, BUT you have to pay 9 euros and you don't even get time to look at it. The guide does not know how to smile. He quickly informed that no one is allowed to take pictures or film, even without a flash. I can live with that. What was unbearable is that everyone had to follow quickly after the guide who rushed through the cave making it impossible to actually see it properly or to even notice anything that was not right in front of you. I understand this cave bores the guide who goes through it every day, but when I pay 9 Euros for each person, and we were 5 people so that is quite the bit of money. And then rented a car to go all the way to see this cave only to be rushed through it is disrespectful towards the visitors. They rip you off, and it is a shame considering according to the pictures they advertise the cave with, it is beautiful with many details. Only a shame we don't get to actually see it properly. I guess they got their money.. and that is all that mattered to them. Not worth the money or the drive!!!!

We enjoyed our visit to the caverns. The parts you see are pretty extensive and there is the mystery of what lies beyond (of which there are actually some pics in the entry area).
The walkway is a bit narrow and bidirectional, which makes passing other groups challenging. The normal tour group size is 25-30 people, but we were allowed to use our own guide for the 6 in our group which made it easier.

We all see the above ground ruins of Greece, from shore to shore, acropolis' to citadels. What lies beneath, all over the country are a delight for geologists and amateur spelunkers alike.
On a mid September afternoon, we were treated to a 35 minute private tour of the stunning subterranean location. The 1.5 million year-old cavers were discovered in 1964 and have been captivating professionals and travelers since.
This is a must-see attraction, and the drive from Akrata was stellar. As one ascends, the terrain becomes entirely alpine, with coniferous growth everywhere and waterfalls. A sweater or fleece is advised.
Photography is not allowed so as not to disturb the resident bats as well as the limestone treasures. The grounds in the vicinity are quite picturesque to capture mementos.

We arrived at twenty past 4, and asked if we were too late or if we could still see the cave (I’d tried to find Info out online beforehand but couldn’t see too much) to our delight, we were told we were just in time for the last tour at 4:30. We happily paid full price for 2 adult tickets and went to the entrance. We quickly realised we were the only 2 on the tour, and were greeted by a young female tour guide. Unfortunately, she offered very little information other than to tell us we couldn’t access all the lakes. She didn’t walk infront of us, and when I asked if she wanted to, she said ‘no it’s okay, but please hurry because we close in 10 minutes’. I honestly felt so rushed and unwelcome, as though we had really inconvenienced her. We had asked questions but we’re met with one word answers which made the experience feel even more awkward. I would have much rather been told, that we had missed entry for the day and to book for another day. It was not worth the trip for a ten minute power walk. So disappointed and feel taken advantage of for our money rather than offering an experience. I won’t be recommending to anyone.

Not something special..in August the cave did not have water, they told us that it is only worth the spring, nevertheless they did theoretical guides and I say theoretical because the lady who made us the tour was obvious that she was bored..it would be good if there is no water the cave does not work or at least the tour is more essential to have a meaning the 9€ that you give the ticket. If you are amongst this cave of Kapsia, I recommend the cave Kapsia!!

The cave tour was excellent. the guide was kind and gave us a lot of information. the stalactite and stalagmite formations were impressive. the ticket price was reasonable. unfortunately we couldn't take a photo even without a flash.

The cave formations are exquisite and the tour is informative. Do note that while the website states 13 lakes and shows photos of people accessing the blue waters by boat, 10 of the lakes are not accessible to tourists and are for scientific study only. You can view 3 lakes, none of which are actually blue. I agree that the tour felt rushed. The museum is surprising good and well done. We spent more time in there learning about the cave.

This could have been a great place to visit, but the price of 27 euro for two adults and two older persons is a bit on the steep side for what is on offer. The "guide" called us forward with another couple and preceeded to steam ahead at full pace with the commentary in Greek. I asked politely if she could guide us in English and she said "no". And that was that. (Now before you start, I wasn't expecting her to speakj fluent English or indeed any other language, but the many attractions that I have been to over the years in many different countries, do cater for the tourists - this one does not, they just take our money).
This is all such a shame because the caves are fantastic. Just read the paper guidance notes before you go in and take a small torch so you can then read them at each designated point. Being left to our own in the caves was a little unnnerving, as the guide oomed off with the other couple, but we had fun anyway - oh, and you can't take photgraphs - but when the guide has run off, there's no-one to stop you is there?
(Just as a side note, the photos on this page are not of the caves, but of the monastery at Mega Sileo - a good place to visit)

We waited an hour for our tour to go, paid 18 euros and we were in the cave at the most, 20 minutes. Hardly any explanation and a tricky drive up to it!

I guess it is a bit impressive if you like caves and if the lakes have actual water. BUT we visited in winter and ,well there sould have been some water.....Overall it is too expensive and the tour is too short. We went on a day trip to kalavryta and we decided to go to the Cave also but i wouldn't reccomend it...Stay in Kalavryta instead, it is a beautiful place and has a lot more stuff to do :)
