The Mason tract is a beautiful natural forest Scenic Road that follows the South Branch of the Au Sable river from Roscommon North. A great place for hiking bird-watching nature and of course trout fishing in fly fishing on the Au Sable river

This is a picturesque quiet ski trail along the Au Sable river. There are some long gradual downhill runs but overall the trail is fairly easy to manage. The scenery is remarkable and there is a gentleness to the entire area.

If you can float the Mason tract in the Fall the colors are fantastic, Be sure to take a shore lunch.

This is a well kept pathway. Very secluded and quiet. The path along the river is soothing and restful. It would have been nice to spend more time there.

We brought our sea eagle inflatable kayak to navigate a portion of the river yesterday. We found it so beautiful we decided to extend our trip one day so that we could kayak the entire mason tract. Amazing natural beauty

So peaceful. We canoe down the river any chance we can. We love this stretch of the Au Sable over all other canoe trips. After a 5-6 hour trip you may see less than 10 houses, it's all nature baby!

The Mason Tract is a tract of thousands of acres set aside for complete immersion in a stretch of beautiful river country. Aside from some structures at Canoe Harbor and Fisherman's Chapel, built of natural local materials, there are no structures, no cottages, no nothing...More
