Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent acoustics and a high ceiling bring this generally standing room only venue to my list of best venues in the US. Solid security, food nearby, and a festive atmosphere helped us have a great evening. Paychecks were dropped at the merch table this time. Loved the Detroit hustlers running the show: pleasant and professional. Thank you.
However: what is up with the tiny section of chairs in the far back where no one was allowed to sit but four grumpy-bored looking old white dudes? Seriously. What is that section? Why can’t we sit there? Those weren’t offered on TicketWeb. Maybe I wanna sit and look grumpy-bored! Just kidding - I’m always up front with the cool kids especially for the show I saw! (Chromatics/Desire/InMirrors). In the future, label the section as off-limits or VIP or whatever it was ...
Highly recommended.

A bunch of us went to see a few bands including "Air is the Arche" at the Majestic Theatre. There was a $6 cover and we had a few beers. No one ate or bowled, just enjoyed the bands. Not only was Air is the Arche awesome, so was the Majestic - what a gem in the big motor city. I do not know if there are stairs/elevators and/or wheelchair access.

It's old, it's nothing special, but I just keep going back. They book bands I like to see, and as long as they do --- I'll return. Hat's off to the selection of music they book. The bars are crowded but not overly, the floor area has no seating, there are seats but be there ultra early or you standing for the night. Still --- a great place to see live music. It and the Royal Oak Music Theater are great indoor venues that host compelling music. A 10 for the music the book!

Absolute crap place. I’ve never hated a venue more and will absolutely never be back. Security is a freaking joke and would not let me in because it was an “All ages show” but 21+ must show ID. So when the bouncer asked if I was 21 I made the stupid mistake of saying yes followed with “I’ll need marked off to not drink” to which he began to argue with me and even at one point tried getting a step closer to me to intimidate me. All I asked was how it was different for a 20 year old to have a X on their hand vs a 21 year old with an X. The bartender literally doesn’t even see my ID. Just the hand marking; which are both jokes anyways (wristbands and sharpies). I was so excited for my concert and it seriously crushed me as I had to walk away realizing he really was not going to let me in. I guess common sense really isn’t common :(

Located in a charming older building in Midtown, the Majestic is a decent place for a concert. The sound quality was not as good as other places, but it might have been an off night. All of the staff we dealt with were friendly and happy to help. I appreciated that I could sit in the bar during the concert but wish they didn’t blare loud music that prevented me from hearing the live performance in the other room.

We arrived early to check out the area, but everyone suggested that we just eat here. They were right! Absolutely delicious & we got to hear the bands sound check, too! Unfortunately, we didn't have time to bowl, but had a good time pre-gaming in the bar. The sound in the main theater was amazing, especially for a line-up of heavy guitar bands. It was a bit of a maze to get outside to smoke, but I was thankful that they allowed re-entry!

My husband and I got married here 10/01/16. During wedding planning we heard over and over, "I didn't know the Majestic did weddings"... But let me tell you - It was the best day! Erin, the event coordinator at the Majestic, was so sweet and accommodating from day one. She answered all my crazy questions, made time to meet with me any time that I needed to go over things in person, and she helped us set our wedding up exactly how we imagined it. She's truly professional and down to earth.
The catering service at the Theater was PHENOMENAL. If you've ever been to the Majestic for brunch you know that Chef Joe is the man. His dishes are amazing and the catering spread was even better. He volunteered to set up our entire dessert display before the wedding started and he helped take everything down after. He was there the whole time and we heard nothing but good comments about the food.
The full service bar was a huge success. Just the look of having a fully stocked bar in our wedding photos is pretty amazing. So different from your typical 5 foot bar with the bartender dressed like a butler. Much more real. My husband and I love beer and having the craft beers on draft was right up our alley.
The best part about having our wedding here was that its the frickin Majestic Theater. SO much history in this building. You can tell the owners truly care about preserving the integrity of the theater. We love Detroit and we are so grateful that we were able to get married in a place with such character. Not to mention, we had the Garden Bowl right next door to help keep or guests entertained with complimentary bowling. It's an awesome building, in the best city, and I could recommend it for anyone who is looking for an eclectic, yet classic wedding venue, that will keep your guests talking.
Side note: Before it hosted our wedding, it was one of the best concert venues in the city. Still is. We can't wait to go back to the Majestic, see our next show there and think back to when we were the ones drinking beers the dressing room that so many other artists have been in since. Can't beat that.

I've been to three different concerts at the The Majestic and I always have a great time! They always book talented musicians that appeal to diverse audiences so you are bound to meet some cool people at each concert. The bigger theatre only has a few seats so it's mostly standing, but you can get close to the musicians and a fully-stocked bar makes it so you never worry twice about standing. Before you catch the show, skip the pretentious restaurants across the street and grab a slice of pizza and cheap beer from the bar... you won't regret it!

Got to see The Book of Mormon at the Majestic. The theater is very well designed. The stage was visible to all of the attendees and the acoustics allowed all to easily hear the music, lyrics and spoken lines.

It's a great place to see a live show. My favorite is the smaller space upstairs - the Magic Stick. Either way, if a band is coming to town I want to see and they are playing here - it's all good! They have parking behind the complex and you can walk through the bowling alley to get to the front, if free street parking on the side is not your thing.

Hey does the Majestic Theatre have coat check inside, epecially for the winter months?
Written 5 December 2019
Hi is there coat check here? Especially in December? I'm attending a concert there on Dec. 5.
Written 25 October 2019
This requirement could change with each show or with each venue. Definitely call ahead to ask/seek verification to avoid disappointment at the entrance. Worth calling to ask because they (The Growlers) are great live.

Hello, my husband and I are going to a concert at the Majestic Theatre in July and were wondering if anyone has recommendations of where to stay close by? Looking for something around 3 stars and walking distance if possible. Thanks!

How much for parking for ICP ? And where would the standing area be if we bought the 25.00 tickets? Is there a picture of the majestic inside that shows where we would stand ?
