The 1st official nudist beach in Australia (good on ya SA). The stark cliffs and curving bay make this a unique beach. Clearly signed 'nude' bathing areas, and plenty of space for 'non-nude' beach-goers. Definitely worth a look! An easy drive from Adelaide, and accessible by Metro too.

With delightful surroundings and clean, crystal clear oceans, this is a pristine environment to be naked in nature
We are a male/female couple and enjoyed a full day of nude swimming, sunbathing and exploring the beach.
The nude beach has its own car park with steep step access and a toliet block near the beach.
We saw a few other couples and singles. Mainly locals who were friendly and spoke to us for a while.
If you’ve never been to a nude beach, this is a great opportunity. Spacious area and safe, without any unwelcome attention. There’s a clear sign to delineate nude vs ‘normal’ beach area.
Only surprise was emerging from the ocean and finding 3 fully clothed female walkers strolling deep into the nude area. It was surreal having them first of all state and then engage me in friendly conversations and one asked if I could be in a group photo ;) very odd but funny!
All in all, a lively experience. Well recommended

Stunning beach , incredible to look at totally natural view . Reminded me of the rocks at purmqmarca in Argentina. Half the beach for naturists which didn’t bother me . Better to go when there are some small waves as we had super fun time body surfing

Legal full nude sunbathing beach. Secluded strip from carpark to cove end. Beautiful sand and pristine water. Safe enough and controlled area with lifeguards. Go natural and feel the difference.
Wonderful feelings still exist...Sun Sand and relax.

I have visited Maslins Beach on Numerous occasions over the years and regard it as Adelaides most scenic beach and clearly my favourite in all of South Australia .The Nudist section (South End ) is the more picturesque part with beautiful rugged cliffs overlooking stunning blue waters and a soft sandy beach .If you take the southern car park make sure you are fit enough to use the 110 stairs ,Toilets and shower are along the stair route .I have found if you sit to close to the cliffs there are bull ants about. ,closer to the water none at all .Yes there is weirdos at times ,unfortunately being a nudist beach they will turn up .First timers should go on a weekend when it is closely monitored by police and others .There is mainly a male presence as most nudist beaches but you will find people off all ages ,nationalities ,from back packers to locals .Best experienced nude on a warm weekend ,packed picnic and cool drinks ..

My wife and I have been coming here since the mid 70's , then with our kids, family and friends in the 80's but rarely now.
The sand is so soft and clean, the water beautiful and clear. post card views of the cliffs blue sky with an amazing sunset every evening. Secluded away from suburban noise and pollution Maslin Beach was a wonderful place to feel free and naked without being judged or ridiculed.
Was... now its main clients are creepy single men parading up and down then coincidentally setting up camp next to us.
Now its a creepy guy old mans hangout. No families, no women no young lovers enjoying nature st its best.. just weird men giving the place an uncomfortable ambiance.
Once a year we will venture down there instead of every week. Sad..

Maslin beach has two access points. You can either hike in about a km on flat firm sand from the Maslin Beach car park ( which also has the family friendly beach, no nudes for a few hundred metres ) OR you can clamber down the steps and paths from the upper carpark off Tuit Rd right into the middle of the naturist beach. My knees dont cope with the stairs, so we take the soft option of hiking along the flat sand.
It is true that the gay boys tend to gravitate to the southern most end, out of the sight of almost everyone, but I have walked the entire length of this unclad beach, including right down to the southern end, and into the gay area, Completely on my own, as a single female, and I have never felt anything but safe. I do my walk, they dont bother me.
Regardless, this is one of the better beaches in Adelaide and having travelled Australia, I'd dare to say it is one of Australia's better beaches. There is a reason why they filmed the Gallipoli movie cliff scenes here. It is pristine, rugged and the coloured sand cliffs are astonishing. Natural, undeveloped and just scenic.
The best time to be here is after one of Adelaide's, famous 40 plus degree days. Come down an hour before sunset, the water and air are still warm but the sand isnt scorching any more. A few light beers for the boys, bubbly for the girls and a fish and chip dinner on the way home to end a hot Adelaide day.
Tip... if you are coming for the nude olympics in late January or early Feb... bring a beach shade as Adelaide summers are utterly ferocious. Also pack some white sports socks. The sand is WAY too hot to even walk on without socks. You might think you will look a bit silly wearing white socks on a nude beach but when its that hot in Adelaide, your tootsies will thank you for it. Besides, everyone else has socks on if its THAT hot and it often is. Everyone underestimates how hot Adelaide is.

This is something else. The beach is fairly long and wide and after a good stroll we encountered a sign warning us that from this point onwards we could expect people showing their frilly bits as we now entered a nudist beach, the first one established in Australia. It was pointed out to me to keep my clothes on as my posture would people think there was a whale on the beach, so I took their advice . Overall a very pleasant spot to visit.

Didn't know this was a nudist beach so were taken aback when we arrived. Shame really because it is a nice beach, but at least the naturists have somewhere they can go and be private, but it should be more widely advertised that thsi is what the beach is, which would help both naturists and non naturists alike

I use the Weather Down Under Website app on my phone. Cloudy days at Maslin's are not the issue, it can be stinking hot but cloudy or it can be clear and cool or it can be clear and hot. Check out any weather app and pay attention to the wind speed and direction instead. A brisk cool on shore wind is not nice at Maslin's even when the sun is out. A mild on shore wind on a hot day is nice. At Maslin's pack your own shade, SPF 50 , and read the wind direction. The best times at Maslins are after 6 pm or so, after a hot Adelaide day. The water is warm, the sun is still setting and the sand is cooler. Otherwise on very hot days wear some white sports socks to prevent burning your feet on the sand. Other good times are between 8 and 11 am before the wind picks up. Check the weather websites for wind speed and direction. On shore in the arvo is good, off shore in the morning is good.

Maslin's enjoyment is weather dependent. Get your self a good weather app. On shore winds are cooling on hotter days. Off shore winds are cooler. The best days are those with cool on shore breezes on warmer days. An ideal Maslin's day is in the low 30's days with faint on shore breezes. On very hot days wear white sports socks to walk on the sand and bring your own shade.
Other good times are to go to Maslins early on a hot day or just on sunset on a hot day.
Apart from a cold and /or windy day its a great beach.

One of our favourite pursuits is a few bubbles for the girls, and a few beers for the boys, other than the designated driver, just on sunset after a stinking hot Adelaide day. We then follow up with a fish n chip dinner and hot showers for all the sandy people at our home nearby. We also do a pate and nibblies and smallgoods at a lunch from time to time, again a lot of bottles of sparkling water for the designated driver. To my knowledge alcohol isn't banned on this beach. Keep your self tidy and enjoy in moderation with a designated driver to get you home, and you will be fine. SAPOL do have a vigorous booze bus program, which they are active with so don't drink drive. Have a designated driver.

Is Maslin Beach particularly crowded on certain days? Specifically around Christmastime - Dec 24 or so?
Written 7 November 2019
The number of people on Maslins is very dependent on the weather, so warm, weekend days with little or no wind are the most popular. It is a large beach with plenty of space, and even on the very busiest of days you can usually put 5 to 10 metres, if not a lot more space, between yourself and others. The Pilwarren Nude Games ( formerly the Nude Olympics) in January is the busiest day of the year with a few thousand attending a great fun day. Free to watch or participate. There are two entry points, the top carpark off Tuit Road, which involves a lot of stairs, or the lower carpark from Maslins which involves a walk of about 600 m or so to the nude section. We use the lower car park and tow a beach trolley with essentials like shade and champagne on board.
