We stopped here on our way from Tahquamenon Falls to McLean State Park for a picnic lunch. The lake is beautiful, the campsites looked nice and the Day Use area was great for a picnic. The restrooms by the beach were very clean. Beach looked...More

This was a nice park. There were plenty of places to walk as well as a nice beach on Michagamme Lake. There were several inflated structures in the water to play on. There is a bike path easilt accessible from the park. There are also...More

I'm from Ohio and my favorite place to go is the UP of Michigan. Ohio should take a lesson from Michigan, clean restrooms, friendly staff. Van Riper State park was as good as it gets. Restrooms and showers were cleaned every day , staff kept...More

We have a large annual family camp out, reserve the loop on the north side of the highway, and most often the cabin as well. It works out great for our needs, though highway traffic can be loud at night.

Sites are well-equipped and have enough space for our tent, tables, tarps, and van. Bathroom building kept clean and a reasonable number of showers too. WiFi available near that building. Camp wood and ice available at the ranger check-in hut. $22 per night for a...More

Nice lake, good swimming beach, good place to kayak. Nice trails to walk (6 mi). Bathrooms and showers clean. Quiet. Good boat launch. We were here in late July and did not have any mosquitoes except on the hiking trails.
