Snow shoe and CCSki trails are open in the winter, and the beach, sand, snow, water are beautiful!! Not sure if we were supposed to have dogs with us, but we did, and they loved running up and down the beach. Probably not allowed in the summer...

Headed for Wilderness State Park over Christmas vacation. Was looking forward to lots of snowshoeing and great scenery. Very little snow so lots of hiking instead. Very nice trails, mostly well maintained. Some damage and down trees due to winter weather but you can tell that they are maintained normally. Not many people, only saw two other hikers the entire... Located north of Petoskey and south of Mackinaw City this state park has "modern" (electric on site, no water/sewer)camping on the shoreline. It also has rustic and tent camping.

The gravel road was so dusty, we couldn't open the windows in our large tent facing the road. Everytime a car drove by, a huge cloud of dust would engulf... More

We had a great site with lake view. Fall color was spectacular. Sites are large with great fire pit. Close to local attractions and easy access to the upper peninsula. We were able to take several day trips to the surrounding areas. Park was quiet this time of. Great experience and would definitely do it again. Only down side was... More

Park is set in a beautiful area surrounded by woods and water but the campground restroom facilities really need updating badly. The money spent on the new so called luxury camp sites should have been used for updating what was already there first.
