Our first trip to Swedetown Trails. The trails were beautifully groomed. It was warm our first day getting up to 45! Since they had such a good base it just made for a little slower going but we used waxless skis and did fine. The next day was about 37 so the trails were a little faster. I would consider... More

We have been coming here every year since 2000, when our daughter attended Mich Tech. Now that we're retired, we seem to extend the trip a little longer each year. The Swedetown Trails are our favorite ski trails in the area. They are always well groomed with lots of snow. They are groomed for both skating and classic. There are... More

My favorite classic cross country skiing trails in area. Variable terrain and well groomed trails. Lots of trails.

I was 2 weeks into a mountain bike journey, the body was a bit tired and I knew after riding Copper Harbor day before I should take a day off or stick to less technical trails...grabbed some coffee at 5th and Elm, slammed a PB and fresh raspberry sandwich and decided to head to Swedetown Trails. First, access is simple,... More

The trails are great - nice grooming for skate and classic. Some nice rolling terrain and hills. Tons of snow! Nice chalet/warming house and friendly people.

Spent the morning skiing with my wife and 8 year old son. Trails were groomed when we started but after a typical Keweenaw snow burst, we were breaking own trail. Overall it was a great trail system

Classic and skate ski, large sledding hill, snowshoe trails, this is a nice, well maintained recreation area. Food is available sometimes, but I got the sense that it was during peak hours and days, not all the time. Fireplace in the warming house, bathrooms downstairs, view upstairs.

Large network of trails (25km ?) in Calumet. We get lots of snow up here so the trails are usually in good shape. Classic or Skate skiing. Plenty of non-hilly trails for beginners or the lazy, like me. Single track bike trails in the summer.

Home of the Great Bear Chase x-country ski race, there is always lots of snow from December to April. The trails are groomed for both conventional and skate skiing. There is a chalet which serves hot drinks. The Swedetown trails are rivaled only by the Michigan Tech trails a few miles south which are reputed to be one of the... More

Most of the year, this is a great trail system for mountain biking. Nothing super technical but built to allow for a flow ride. I had the misfortune of riding the day after a storm so the trails were littered with branches and down tree limbs. You can see the promise of this system though. Don't miss Applesauce, the beaver...
