We frequent beaches in Livingston County and so far Kent Lake at Island Lake Rec, was the busiest and water was murky. The wet sand between the water and sand was green with algae. The park by the rest rooms was nice and newer for...More

We alternate between Island Lake and Kensington Metro Park for our weekend walks. Once September hits this place is a bit more peaceful for waking. Lots of bike activity and kayak rental during the summer months.

We visit island lake recreation area often. It is a beautiful area with endless possibilities of outdoor fun! There are many trails for hiking, bikes, an area to rent canoes or kayaks, areas for fishing and a couple of beaches (out favorite is spring mill...More

Perfect for bicycling. Lawn area is well- maintained. Spring Mill pond is boat-free. No swimming allowed on Island Lake, although there are a few nice walking trails. An algae problem is developing along the south shore of Kent Lake.

I did a triathlon here and enjoyed the beautiful lake and surrounding roads (except for having to climb the hills with my bike!). I would love to check out the trails here sometime.

Island Lake is so much fun in the summer with the lake, beach and many trails to rollerblade or ride your bike on. Island Lake is so much fun in the winter with the vast amount of trails you can ride UTVs on. Very clean!

Because this is beautiful, well-maintained area to enjoy nature walks, hike, fish, trail bike, road bike, walk your dog or swim...and that's just in summer.

We've been to Island Lake many times; most recently a few weeks ago for a long walk on a Sunday afternoon. When we walk we tend to park at the edge and taske the trail under I-96 to access Kensington's loop. We've kayaked here numerous...More

Island Lake has the best sporting clays course in the county and you always can find that the course will be challenging and fun. They change up the course on a regular basis which never makes boring.

Tril is clean, wide and most of the time not overly busy. Some small hills but easily maneuvered. by all ages. They charge you to drive in each time or get a yearly pass.

There are several nice beaches: a larger one on Kent Lake with a pavilion and canoe/kayak rental. The beach is Sandy and nice. No lifeguards. Also another smaller beach area is "Springmill Pond".
