Campsite 79!
Sep. 2020 • Couples
Campsite 79 was great for 4 people and 2 large vehicles a truck and SUV, could fit 1 more and at least 2 more tents if wanted. I give it 4 stars because of traffic noise but other than that it was perfect. Extremely clean bathrooms and showers. Great location near Canyon Falls and Second Sand Beach!!!! Full electric hook up is nice as well :) a bit close together but couldn't even tell.

Super fun times!
Aug. 2020 • Family
They have an awesome teepee. Bummer it was reserved :/ worth a peek for sure though. It’s a bit noisy but that created a fun challenge. Good for making apple crumble. Also: thunder, lightning, and rain. But that’s not the campsites fault. Had to go sit in the car and listen to a podcast.

Great place to stay and visit state HIGH POINT and also COPPER HARBER
Aug. 2019
We visited the Keweenaw peninsula from here. Sure its an hour drive up to Copper Harbor (which we should camped at), but it was nice to check out the area. Went to L'Ance town driving towards Scanee to find the high point. Lots of twisted dirt roads in the middle of nowhere but did find Mt. Arvin high point. Two wheel drive high clearance truck works well to get there. Campground is across the street from the lake, so be careful walking over. They should put up a safety bridge or crosswalk or something. Not much in the campground itself. Walk to the DRIVE IN outside restaurant to get ice cream or other typical fried food. Go see the Bishop Baraga statue nearby, and the Casino about a mile away. Also be sure to see waterfalls galore in the area. Note as with all state parks you need the RECREATION PASSPORT sticker which is $33 for out of state per year ($9 for single use) and well worth the cost to support state parks.

Nice location and great hosts but stay away from the road
Jun. 2019
It's a common theme and unfortunately, there's not much the park can do about this but the road noise, even in late June (not yet peak traffic season), is significant. We were on a site closest to the road. This is really close (!) so I'd expect that the sites farthest from the road would be quite a bit better. The park itself is nice and the hosts were excellent--full of information and very helpful. The folks working for the park were also quite helpful and friendly. We were able to see the bald eagle flying around the area fishing which is quite a sight. The proximity to the Canyon Falls is also a plus.

Nice location! Great for kids
Aug. 2019 • Couples
This is really a nice park. Very clean. Showers available. Lots of activities for kids. I would have given 5 stars except for 2 things; campsites were pretty close together and traffic on nearby highway 41 is pretty loud until after dark.

Ridiculous Road Noise
Jul. 2019 • Friends
I am offended that the Michigan DNR would allow tent campers here. My site was 15 feet from a major highway.... All night we we shook by thundering logging trucks, muffler-less cars, Harley’s ...ets Horrible.

Nice Campground/Noisy Location
Jul. 2019 • Family
Tent camped here for one night - nice clean bathroom & shower facilities (although screens on the bathrooms would eliminate the bugs that collect at night). The road noise from Highway 41 is constant but not terrible (we were on the backside of the campground). The campground staff is very friendly.

Noisy but cozy
Jul. 2019 • Couples
I know that sounds like a conflicting review but the campers here are so kind and cozy! The only noise is road noise, which I was certain would keep me awake but it didn’t! It has great access to an amazing day trip of waterfalls and hiking and the staff are so kind and helpful. It’s very small and the campers here are kind and quiet.

Under construction, but we noticed some sites open.
Jun. 2019 • Friends
We wanted to stay here, but the website said it was completely closed in 2019. There appears to be a crew running electric to some sites. So i presume the park is getting an update. The location is great, but there is lots of road noise, but you are right across from the water. We will visit next year, and hopefully they will have put in some 50 amp sites. Thanks State of Michigan for the updates. We were here in June, 2019.

Phase 1 of the project was just completed at the end of June and some sites are now available. Phase 2 is expected to be completed in October. We hope everyone will enjoy the electrical upgrades and other renovations. Hope you can make it out to the park next year.

Awesome campground!
Sep. 2018 • Couples
We are staying in the mini cabin for 5 days and I highly recommend it. It is more secluded than the other sites and close to the vault toilet, which is very convenient. Plenty of seating and it has a heater, which is great for those crisp fall nights. It's not busy in September and the other campers are nice and quiet. We'll definitely be back.
