Climbing the hill gives lovely 360 views. Fascinating history to the area, having hosted everything from a prison to an orphanage, and now a treatment plant for cleaning up the waters of the bay. Easy to get here on the bus.

As a Winthropite, I'm almost obligated never to tell any outsiders about our hidden gem of a town. We're just fine if you're not a fan. We'll be OK. However, a great natural trail has emerged from the Deer Island development and it's this harborwalk....More

Took a walk around Deer Island today, combination of astronomical high tides plus strong winds meant water breaking over the pathways on the rear (away from Boston) side of the path. Not too much water, but just the surprise of getting damp where we never...More

The 2.6 mile Harborwalk on Deer Island offers scenic views of the revived Boston Harbor. There is also a Boat Dock, Fishing area, & small Beach. Everything is well maintained, & there is limited Free Parking. It never seems crowded like Castle Island. I enjoy...More

The walk in its entirety is over 2 miles one way - too much for many If this is too much- go for the viewing of planes departing Logan airport with the Boston skyline in the background Quite a sight
