The Inkwell in Oak Bluffs is definitely a must do if you travel to Martha's Vineyard. The water was so calm, I stayed in it with friends for over 2 hours just talking and laughing.

The African American history of Ink Well Beach is a landmark and I'm thankful I had the opportunity to visit.

Make sure you take a walking tour. Pequot Hotel offers walking tour covering history of this beach. This beach is important to the history of the Island.

You will love coming to the ink well; and you might like to come swim and exercise with the Polar Bears of Martha's Vineyard. Check out the WEB site for more information

We were at the beach every day. Surprised that the beach is not as sandy as I would have expected. Lots of seaweed, shells and rocks. Walking on the beach without shoes can be painful. Great view. Peaceful and tranquil. A block from our hotel.

The beach was a little rockier than I am accustomed to, however I highly recommend a visit. I did find the water to be very clear and a little chilly.
